As the effect of Subsidy removal on PMS has continued to be felt among Nigerians, especially homes and businesses that relies primarily on petrol, a Nigerian from Anambra state, South East, seems to have proffered solution to counter the rising cost of petrol.

The man converts Generators which runs on petrol, to Gas powered Generators.

Since the removal of subsidy on Petrol, families and businesses spends average of N5000-N10000 naira to run Generators daily, while a cooking of 12kg which cost about N7000 can run a generator for more than a week.

Lots of households and businesses are converting their generators to gas powered generators to save cost.

There's hope for Nigeria.

I do buy fuel 5000 every night to power my house because we have not had electricity for over 4months. With this I will save money

I don't live in Nigeria thus have no need for such, my family homes both in Lagos and in the village are both off grid as they are powdered by a mix of solar and wind, while the cooking gas in the village house is methane processed from the installed biodigester which is fed with food and farm wastes.

It's not new. Someone installs it around kayode street at ogba in lagos and I've known about it close to 3 years.
I saw no need for it but I'm sure if I knew a 12.5 kg gas would last one week what the petrol equivalent would last just a day, I would have gotten it done.
The veracity of how economic and lasting the gas is compared to petrol is the main issue now.

No mishap. Don't you use Gas cylinder at home?.

The only caution I would suggest is to properly isolate your gas cylinder from the generator.
