The problem is what are we reading? What are we writing?

If you follow it well you could see its direct relationship to development. The illiteracy of Northern nigeria weigh us down. Look at Niger rep.

Some people don't want Nigeria to separate so they won't become Niger Republic 2.0 🤣

@1Sharon, how's it going?

I instinctively did a quick fact-check online and discovered that the alleged 19% literacy rate for Niger Republic in that map wasn't accurate as of 2023 when you attached the map of Africa literacy rate screenshot. That country's UNESCO literacy rate data as of 2022 ending was 37%.

Read the excerpts from a verified article below to get a hang of what I'm saying here:

"In a country whose literacy rate is among the lowest in the world, this is a contentious topic.
According to data from UNESCO's Institute of Statistics, the West African nation's literacy rate at the end of 2022 stood at 37%. Although there is a consensus that the Republic of Niger needs to work faster and harder to improve education, the road to this common goal seems to have divided experts and parents."

Your thread is still relevant though, because it triggered some deep insights for me. However one has to be CLEARLY intentional about fact-checking these days because of fake news and non-updated information from static Websites before creating new NL threads or posting on X and other online platforms.

More specifically, literacy is the ability to understand the relationship between sounds and written words such that one may read, say, and understand them (UNESCO, 2004; Vlieghe, 2015).
