Russia hasn't faced the best of Western ammunition, most of the weapons given to Ukraine were made in the 1980s, it is Ukraine who's faced the best of Russia's weapons. We have no idea bout the West best tech, The west hasn't provided Ukraine with Air power, There's still a lot that the West can provide that they haven't provided yet. It is the west that's holding back not Russia.

Russia is selling oil to China, Turkey etc at discount prices, they are making profit but not as much as they did when they traded with the EU. The sanctions and having to sell oil at cheaper prices has drastically reduced their income. Home grown substitute is good, but what's the benefit when you can't create surplus and export, imagine Russia only produced oil for local market and wasn't exporting to other nations.

The EU would most likely always have a bigger economy compared to Russia, cost of gas has increased but they can afford it, it isn't a dire situation. Replacing Russia's gas would be expensive in the short run, but there are alternatives to Russia's gas. If Nigeria was properly developed, we might have benefitted from this.

Russia still have a lot of funds stuck in Europe and Europe is considering using it to rebuild Ukraine.

And high cost of gas won't stagnate EU's economy. same way increase of petrol price here has never stagnated the Nigerian economy, initial hardship and things would balance out.

EU is stabilizing the worst effect of the high oil prices has passed, difficult times ahead of Russia regardless of the outcome of the war.
