Using another approach
I got 9
I derived the sides of the triangle in terms of h, which are (h+32, h, 40), then used Pythagoras theorem to get the value of h.
I tried uploading the solution, can't seem find my way around uploading pictures on the platform.
The second approach seems to be more genuine. What do u think?

Here is a shorter method.

Draw a diameter from top to bottom, perpendicular to the base of the triangle, to make a smaller triangle, with the diameter parallel to side h.
The length of the diameter = the height of the smaller triangle = 8 units.
Base of smaller triangle = 40 - 4 = 36 units.
Using the method of similar triangles,

h/40 = 8/36

Cross multiplying gives

36h = 40 x 8

36h = 320

h = 320/36 = 8.9 units.

I can't. It's long. I even had to use wolfram to solve one of the equations involved. There's nothing like similar triangles in the question as suggested by some commenters above.
