FreeStuffsNG, Mr. "Tinubu started free education in Lagos state" and our erudite gully erosion spotter...shebi you know say gully erosion is not restricted to South East?😜😜😜😆

Keep reminding the supermod to get it to the front page, make we rough am 😆😆😆

Also create thread on why the Federal Government insists on making Anambra children score above the highest cut off mark in Nigeria in order to gain admission into any Federal Government College (Unity schools) in Nigeria.. because that is "cheating".😆😆😆
Well-done for the counter.
Instead of you to appeal to your government to come rescue you and tackle the current problem, you are busying casting aspersion to the past similar event in other places

Actually, no.

The problem is that the South East is located in what is supposed to be a rainforest.

The soil of the rainforest is very very weak. Naturally, the forest cover is supposed to protect the soil...but as populations rise, the trees get cut down, and the soil is exposed to the heavy rain, and washed away...leading to erosion.

That's why the best cure or prevention for erosion is planting trees. Cut a tree down, plant a tree in its place. The problem is, space for trees might not be enough. The SE is a very densely populated area.

Erosion also happens in the South west and south south.
You just gave them in a comment what Awolowo's free education couldn't give them in their generation. Except that they have a lot of unlearning to do to grab what you dropped here.... They should be grateful to you for such lecture

Peter Obi who last govern Anambra State since 2015............I wonder how this once upon a time beautiful Nairaland news and exiting platform have degenerated down to Swines and Tribal bigots. I hope some would be done by the MOD before it's fester beyond control........This particular FreeNonsenes sucks hunestly....spitttttt

This is caused by the lawlessness of reckless building of houses on waterways to block water flow and drainages, nature then took its toll.

Everyone can still recall how one of the influencers in Anambra stood his ground to fight task force officers to stop bulldozers from pulling down one of those buildings he built on waterways and blocking free flow of water.

These lawless people are the people Mrs Oby Ezekwelizi pretends not to see because of nepotism; these set of Ndi Anambra are committing crimes against humanity and nature in Anambra and getting away with it yet Oby is not bothered.smh

It's this kind of lawlessness in Anambra we will not accept in Lagos.

Is either you have no idea of who the OP is or you deliberately chose to ignore what he represents.

And who told you the locals are not calling government attention to it or you think they have been sleeping?

The similar event is not in the past because it is still the present reality of those living in those areas.

Sigh... You should never stand in the path of floods! Nature should never be interfered with!

Anambra needs to be stricter about town-planning with regard to waterways, and they should take flood control more seriously!

I believe Adams Oshiomhole made giant strides in this direction while Edo Governor! They should as him for advice!

This people have money to develop other state but no money, idea and resources to replicate same in their home state. So how possible is that.

This state have the highest number of billionaire in the country, but, their money is not useful in their land. Instead of them to cry out for help and see how lagos has been managing its flood and other challenges, no, it's chest they will be beating here and there.

But wait o, 50,000 people displaced and 30 building affected according to the report. Does that mean 1,667 people lived in each building. Can someone please explain to me.

Anambra, especially Onitsha has mostly multiple storey buildings, a building can house up to 100 people or more.

Anambras erosion history is mainly caused by soil topography. Go to oko and nanka and you'll witness its debilitating effect. Its hardly man made.
Yes Oko and Nanka have serious erosion problems.
