Where was the state government when the constructions were being made?
They are just trying to replicate what is happening in Lagos where 95% of the people are strangers and it is easier for victims to relocate. where do you expect Anambrarians to go if they are not compensated before demolition ?

Hope this is not a reprisal of the demolition exercise at alaba Lagos state.

I think our country have gotten to a point where drainages are supposed to be built under the tarred roads, instead of this normal or usual open drainages, these helps to forestall dirts and co from filling up the drainages and thereby restricting water flow

You won't hear many since once is all it takes. Unlike Nigeria, they are not forgiving or relenting on law breakers abroad. After the severity of the action taking against the relevant law breaking illegal structure erector that first time, he, she, or they, dare not return to repeat the offence.

Is it that Ezu River massacre and the Awkuzu SARS killings do not matter to many because it was Igbo lives lost?

Is Igbo life not worth something?
Yes, it's worthless so long as the perpetrator is a kinsman or the life was taken in alaigbo. But if the perpetrator is not a kinsman/d life is taken in a foreign land, then there's trouble.

I think that is also a witch hunt against the Uoruba, Hausa and Fulani living and trading in Onitsha ba?

Oh sorry that is because Yoruba, Hausa and Fulani failed to vote for Soludo ba?

Because some people always claim victim when it happens in another region but normal procedure whn demolition happen in their own region and even praise the govt for carrying out demolition.

This demolishing of structures every now and then by the government is really irritating and very disheartening.

Do yhu have alternative for them? Yhu just wake up one morning and discover some structures are illegal...no provision made to accomodate the affected people, yhu just pushed them out like that.

Those shops might just be the only source of survival for most of them, demolishing them mean throwing them into poverty with no means of survival.

Illegal or not, the government should be very reasonable in handling issues like this.
Our government must be the most heartless in the universe. Visionless and directionless.

How many times do yhu hear government in other countries destroy structures like we do here?

Mumu talk. Go to other countries and build illegal structures nah and see if you won't be fined and jailed.

This sort of issues would not be happening if the appropriate authorities don’t approve it.
A responsible government wouldn’t have allowed the constructions to happen in the first place. That would’ve been nipped in the bud.
How can they allow construction to happen along drainage and water channels ?

Governments need to recognise and plan ahead. There should be master plan which should be strictly followed in development. Corrupt government officials and civil servants who authorised and permitted such development should be identified and punished.
Citizens and potential developers need access to creditable government websites or appropriate avenues to source information on government authorised places if they want to develop and construct certain buildings.

We waste a lot of resources due to stupidity , vindictiveness and wickedness.

People are also scared of building and committing finances to certain investments. How can someone get authority from eg Rivers state government or Kaduna state to build and after 8 years, a new government comes in and start demolishing properties??

We need to get it right.
