I remember our time in school and going to swim in this same river with my elder sister. We always went in the company of indigenes and only tried to swim in the shallow parts. It seemed fun at the time as we would cook with fire wood by the river side, play with a football in the river and get some swimming lessons from them but in retrospect... mehn, that was some serious risk we took.

Same thing keep occuring in the Said River but after few months people will start tripping in again.
Even if experts were there to rescue him, them for no still see am[ no asked me why] cause it was after 2 days dey normally see anybody that drowned in that ekosodin river
After that they will bury him or her close to the river.
But in this boys case he's parents refused him to be buried there.

In a situation like this, isn it possible they tie a long rope to a pillar or tree at one end and throw the second end with sinking hook(s) for the drowning person to cling unto?
The friend who got in said he pull him down. If he had gotten hold of a rope he could have been pulled out from my estimate.

My great grandpa made it a spiritual point for all his male descendants must know how to drive and swim by 16. That tradition is kept till today. RIP to the dead.

Ekosodin river of all river? The river doesn't smile at non-native frolicking with it's depth, I with my girlfriend went to d river 2013 but with an indigene, he was d one who told us d limit which we can go inside d river, as an indigene he went farther into d river but we couldn't follow him because he'd for warned us that d river recognizes non indigene. RIP to the death.

Thank God say the river no take you,if he wan take person he no matter weather u enter deep side or not,he go just be like magic say u find yourself for the deepest side day struggle for help

Nothing like that. I remember in the year 2007 when I almost died in that same river. I took a dive at the deepest part of the river when I saw my life flashing before my eyes. A guy who came to help me almost drown with me. I saw people at the bank of the river looking helplessly as I struggle inside the water until an experienced swimmer was able to pull me out.

Even though I stay Ekosodin for almost 2 years, na point dem dey point where the river dey for me. I no gree near that side. Anything beyond Ekosodin market, you no go even see my shadow grin

When i was schooling in Oghara, i stayed in a community called ebrifo, their river is called ebrifo river and i think its part of the etiope river. i used to go and swim there but i know my boundary, my roomate who is an ijaw from bayelsa and another guy from bayelsa too use to go the middle cause they were very good swimmers. it claimed the lives of three non indigenes and they were buried beside it.

Water does not have an enemy, but not for the one who does not know how to swim, it's a very tragedic thing, am an ijaw guy who wasn't taught how to swim then, I was 7yrs when my mom and I went for sailing, it wasn't funny at. my instincts was telling me that of me passing through the side of the boat was very disastrous for me as at then , I was very afraid, when I went further to go pull off the wind_speed , unfortunately for me the wood on that wind speed hit me and I fell inside the river, instantly my mom dive in , into the water and caught me. The long story short, my same neighborhood, was at the scene, before my Mon realize abt the board, it's has gone far I still remember how many cups of water I drank that faithful day, since then ve automatically know how to swim, even in a current water, TnkGod for my mom and my neighbor I would ve gone and forgotten by now. TnkGod for my life, since then river and I are 5&6.

After all these years, at final level you decided to disappoint your parents by claiming big boy. You knew you couldn't swim yet you went to display your manhood in the river for that matter. How would your parents feel now.
My advice to others...stay away from water if you don't know how to swim.
