Ondo: "The Kidnappers Are Fulani People; They Released Me After Collecting N2m As Ransom"-Chief Imam

In the early hours of today, the Chief Imam of a place in Uso area of Ondo state's Owo local government, Ibrahim Bodunde Oyinlade, was granted an interview on BBC News Yoruba where he narrated his ordeal in the den of kidnappers.

The kidnapped Chief Imam said, "before we landed into the den of the kidnappers, we trekked for about six hours. The kidnappers were Fulani people because that was the language they were speaking. They told me they thoroughly planned my abduction. It was after they collected N2m they released me."

Narrating further, the Imam said, "I was in my farm when they came to abduct me. They pointed a gun and Cutlass at me and said if I don't cooperate, they will kill me and burn my car that was close to my farm."[/i

[i]Lastly, the kidnapped Imam said, "after being released, I was treated at a hospital. What I want from the government is that they should redeploy more men into our Local Government because if the place is not secure, we will not be able to go to our farms again. Farming is our only means of livelihood."

The state's police public relations officer confirmed the incident saying, "it was the imam's wife that reported the incident and our men did their best in arresting the kidnappers. They are now in custody."
