Haha what is government problem if they still smuggle fuel. Shabi there is no subsidy? So its forces of demand and supply at work. Therefore government should rather charge export duty on fuel going outside naija instead of calling them smugglers.
Why I am saying this is because soon they will tell us they still pay subsidy on fuel.
Recently we were told that from the accountant general they stopped paying subsidy since 2015. I beg oo I no want hear say una still dey pay subsidy ooo

We don't really have enough security agencies that can stop this nonsense
The available ones are corrupt and not recruiting enough

Doesn't matter anymore, as long as we are no longer subsidizing
It does, it will affect the market forces that's suppose to bring the price down.

LP and PDP can have a working alliance together. 50/50 share . Atiku stands a better chance because of spread. Tinubu will loose hands down because he has crippled Hausas and fulanis in government
Obi currently has the spread far more than atiku. If only the court can order for the election votes to be counted then you'll understand what I just said. Dude, atiku is highly overrated same with kwankwaso. The last election revealed this. Atiku no get any spread!!!! He is highly overrated.

There will still be smuggling so long as our petrol is cheaper than theirs which it still is.
So the solution now is to increase ours above "market price"? grin grin We never know anything.

I maintain, subsidy was never the problem. Stop smuggling by any means necessary. Punish offenders mercilessly when caught. When we find the will to do that, things will begin to fall in the right places. Otherwise, well only continue to go around in circles.

If the Nigerian government is not subsiding the fuel, then smuggling oil products to other African countries will be in the interest of Nigeria.

Did I say so? Learn to read with comprehension. I merely stated a fact…if there is a price arbitrage, people will exploit it.

You are the one jumping the gun and engaging in a subject matter which I did not the theory of how to solve it.

If you want to discuss how to stop smuggling feel free but that was not the subject of my post and not an issue I care to discuss.

They have charging stations and it's cheap
What will power the charging station??
Do you realize it’s less waste of energy converting chemical directly to mechanical
Than converting chemical to electrical and then to mechanical energy..

Damn!

News has it that the election tribunal might likely order a rerun? This is a silly move. Do they know how much it takes to conduct another election? They should declare obi president of Nigeria ASAP. A rerun isn't necessary else APC will still rig it over and over again
so why sloughs they give it to obi and not APC that gas shown it had the numbers to rig?

Last minute clearance sales

When we start domestic manufacturing and importation at new level, the thing would end.

You seem to have forgotten that we have discussed this issue here on nairaland almost to the point of overflogging in the recent past. But I'll respect the bolded and hold my peace. Ciao grin grin

If you want the subsidy back...

1.Run for office

2.Run for office

3.Revolution.

Thanks.

As for me, I don't like any of the parties, but I don't like the idea of subsidy either.

If you want subsidy back, get elected or revolution.

If you don't, stop asking me questions.

If you want to accuse me of hating the poor and making them suffer...well, while I am flattered to think I am that powerful, in real life I am not, so take it up with your government.

You're getting worked up over nothing bro. Again, I haven't said anything about wanting subsidy back. We had a conversation sometimes ago and you were pretty sure about your submissions. I only asked if you're still sure. On the other hand you may be optimistic and there's nothing wrong with that right now. As a matter of fact, I think it's the only reasonable way forward from here at least for now. However, you may have privileged information hence my question. I just wonder why you're not receiving it as sent.

I knew something was still on but couldn't tell it. That 28% drop doesn't correlate with the level of inflation of petrol import we heard about before subsidy removal.
As long as prices are lower here, smuggling will abound.

As it stands now, marketers will want to increase prices to be at par with Benin, Cameroun and Niger.
Selling fuel at 5k won't stopped fuel struggling, strugglers have their own local refineries... The availability of buyers is what matters to them, it doesn't matter if they sell N100 naira per litter to their customers.... They'll still make their gains, they got the fuel for free and refined it locally.
