Renowned scholar and Islamic rights activist in Nigeria, Prof. Lakin Akintola, has retired from the services of Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, after spending 39 illustrious years in the institution.

Akintola, who is a Professor of Islamic Eschatology, today (Monday) clocked the age of 70, necessitating his retirement as an accomplished academic.

The don is popular in the country for his relentless agitations for Muslim rights, under the auspices of the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), which he founded.

In commemoration of his retirement, Akintola, on Sunday, unveiled his 429-page autobiography titled: “My Jihad: The Autobiography of an Islamic Eschatologist cum Human Rights Activist.”

The event was graced by an array of personalities including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; his Deputy, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat; immediate past Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai; immediate past Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Pantami.

Other dignitaries expected are: Oluwo of Iwo Kingdom, HRM, Oba AbdulRasheed Akanbi; Oniba of Iba, HRM, Oba Adesina Sulaimon Raji, Chief Imam of Lagos State Sheikh Sulaiman Abou-Nolla; Vice Chancellor, University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Egbewole; Mallam Yusuf Ola-Olu Ali, SAN (chairman); President, Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo, and the hostess, Vice Chancellor of LASU, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello.

The the event took place at the LTV 8, Ikeja, Lagos.

Akintola joined the services of LASU in 1984, barely a year after the university was established by the late former Lagos State Governor, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, Muhammad stated.

The MURIC director started as an Assistant Lecturer and rose through the ranks to become a Full Professor. He had his inaugural lecture at LASU in 2018.

after spending 39 illustrious years in the institution.

What is illustrious about his career? Akintola as a lecturer caused more toxic religious division under Buhari than even Boko Haram.

How he became a Professor still baffles me. And he was even a lecturer at my alma mater

Chaii.. Shame dey catch me oo 🤭😥

He's the opposite of what you v written. Instead, this element of division, hatred & bad policies created more enemies for Islam. The recent jargons he said about Adeleke in Osun is a disgrace to his existence and all Muslims worldwide.
Is Adeleke a Christian or Muslim?

He's mentioning CAN as if those ones stole his wife but I love the way CAN ignores him a times cos he's a barking dog, an agent of fulanization in Nigeria meanwhile the caliphate doesn't give a fûck a out his existence cos he's just another Solagberu or Okedara. He or his descendants doesn't matter cos he's not from Futa Jalon.
Cos you are a Muslim doesn't mean you should be slave to Sokoto caliphate. Ilorin Yoruba Muslims should realise they are first Yorubas before being a Muslim.

What about the needless poke nosing of saying Muslim girls should use hijab in a Christian school. That's madness. The earlier the better Muslims face their religion and how they can reduce terrorists the better. The recent debacle in Ilorin showed Muslims are intolerant. One few among them are sane. This MURIC prof hasn't said anything about human rights respect to the Isese Festival matter. Is Ilorin under sharia law? And if it's so, is sharia law above the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria?
There are lots of things to analyse for Muslims to see they don't own Nigeria. The constitution that binds all together says everyone is free to live and let live.

For further reading to know how bad MURIC has done, read below:

Let me tell you MURIC's misdeeds in recent times
* Failure to caution the emir of Ilorin to not dabble into the Isese Festival matter. He's meant to be a father to all religion. Cos when Wike said Rivers isn't a Muslim state, Akintola was crying like a teen that had heartbreak. Christians cautioned Wike and showed spirit of acceptance for all religion

* MURIC published terrible and divisive articles against Osinbajo to not emerge as Buhari's successor saying no Yoruba Muslim has ever been president. Does it matter the religion of the president or the tribe. As in the man ll just speak like a rabid patient. I dunno if it's Tinubu that overworked his brain to tell him to start saying trash or he Akintola is the over sabi servant spewing trash that can cause confusion in APC that has large christian and muslim voters.

* MURIC was silent on menace of fulani herdsmen across Nigeria.

* MURIC was silent on the killings of Deborah Samuel last year. Such a double faced organisation with a snitch as it's director. Tell me if CAN is as petty as MURIC.
You muslims better receive brain and realise that your eye services and stupid propaganda are noticed and they ll only give you all bad names. A word is enough for you if you are wise.

I believe you are Yoruba and also a Muslim as well. So you feel it's right to defend Akintola. How would you feel if similar utterances were made by Christian leaders?

Nigeria is a multi-religious country and we have to tolerate one another let alone we that are educated.

If after all your education, you still adore bigots then you and the IPOB terrorists have the same small minds and pea brains.

This is exactly how apartheid protagonists spoke about Nelson Mandela. Mandela was hates just because he spoke against the racial discrimination of blacks in South Africa

Professor Ishak Akintola is hated just because he spoke against the persecution of Muslims in Nigeria.

Professor Ishak Akintola is hated just because he spoke against the persecution of Muslims in Nigeria.

But when Muslim do the persecution Mr Akintola simply look the other way

For example: Kwara state banning non-muslim events/celebration Akintola said nothing

Akintola spoke against osinbajo becoming president because he's a Christian but see nothing wrong in Muslim Muslim presidency

The truth is he's a religious supremacist who see nothing in Muslims terrorising others
