This lineup is my biggest reason for giving Aquaman 2 high marks despite misgivings. Universal's movie only seem to pose serious threat. Still, December is lacking the Blockbuster tentpole film audiences might crave for. My perspective tho.

I also maintain that each movie performs on its own based on different circumstances. But I don't see DC's last two films this year performing worse than The Flash.

It's just sad cos I think The Flash had one of the best marketing DC and WB has had in a long time. Too bad Miller had to soil things.
For Shazam 2, it's obvious WB refused to promote that movie and left it to die.

Blue Beetle and AQ 2 is more of a realistic gauge of the state of the franchise for me. It's wait and see.

He did a pretty decent job with the flash so there is no doubt about his storytelling, I’m just afraid people will compare to Matt Reeves’ own

Yeah, true that. It's bound to be compared just like all Batman movies and actors as well as Joker actors. Those roles are always watched out for.

We don't have much info yet but I feel him delivering a fantastical Batman will bring fan hype more. Somehow people or fans are becoming tired of Grounded and realistic Batman.

They want the more comic booky versions of the character. And the inclusion of the Batfamily like The Robins and Nightwing is sure to prop the movie up. We haven't seen Robin on screen since that atrocity in Batman and Robin in late 90s.

Man has been delivering consistently to peak cinema. I'm really hoping and praying this movie make money. If nothing at all, at least $300-450mn. E go pain me if this film no make money sha.

Either way, Apple TV plus will at least get a sizeable amount spent on the project back from the theatrical release.
I hope it does well because baba wasn’t happy when the last duel performed badly and I understand his pain. It was a good movie with solid performances by Matt Damon and Adam Driver but people no gree watch am.

That movie flopping touch me too...
It was easily one of the best movies for that year. But that box office was heartbreaking especially after it was also ignored by the Academy for nominations that year.

I hope Sony market this very well. I think Joaquin Phoenix can bring his charm to this movie.

RE: Interstellar (2014).

"We used to look up at the sky and wonder at our place in the stars. Now we just look down, and worry about our place in the dirt".

With "Oppenheimer" almost a week from the premiere, i had to re-see this and remind my self why Christopher Nolan is one of my fave film makers and why him releasing a new movie is such a big deal.

This was such a brilliant watch then and is still is now, The plot itself is nothing new and almost clichΓ© if you will, The Earth's resources is dying off due to ecocide, and scientists are looking for other habitable planet to save the species. On paper it's a reoccurring theme but it's the way this crazy film maker makes and tells this version that takes its levels above its prior, deeping it, it's like nothing we have ever seen before.

Visually stunning with shots that you can hang in the Louvre, Nolan uses the IMAX camera to full effects, cropped when the shots needed too, and uncropped when it needed to too, to create the best out of this world experience. The sheer amount of work put into making this film can only be the doings of a master film maker at the absolute top of his game. The movie was so scientifically accurate that 3 actual published science papers emanated from it. The depiction of the warmhole and blackhole was grueling hours of work, with theoretical equations written for the engineers to create a new type of CGI rendering software to render the frames for the warmhole and blackhole, with some frames taking up to 100hours to render and the entire frame rendering size was a whopping 80TB!, No surprises when it when won the Oscars for Best Visual effect the following year.

The casting was top tier, Matthew McConaughey fresh from winning Oscars Best Actor for "Dallas Buyers Club" (2013), was impeccable here as the lead, probably could have won back to back best actor nod, if not for other stronger performances that year, with Eddie Redmayne winning it for his excellent portrayal of Stephen Hawking in "The Theory of Everything" (2014). Jessica Chestain and Anne Hathaway gave a good account of themselves.A certain very young TimothΓ©e Chalamet stars for a bit and what is a CN movie without Micheal Caine been involved in it.

Christopher Nolan might have his critics, but he's the right amount of crazy autuer that even if you are woken from a cryo-sleep, you would recognise his brilliant work instantly. I am yet to see a film of his i didn't like, and i am not even going to lie....i will follow this man anywhere...on to a "Oppenheimer" it is... let's blow shΓ―t up!

It's safe to say movie production budgets are increasing and ain't crashing down anytime soon. πŸ‘€πŸ‘€

At the 2 bolded, When the promo for "The Flash" started, WB and everybody involved in making it was so sure that Ezra Miller's antics wasn't going to affect it but here we are.

My point being, Using AQ2 as some of metric to guage where DC's head is at, doesn't sit right with me cuz keeping Amber Heard in the movie is almost on the same plane as Miller was with "The Flash". She's effectively cancelled and ex cummicado in Hollywood as of now and she's a huge red flag as of now in any future projects of hers plus initial reactions to AQ2 screenings aren't all that positive.

To me, i have wash my hands off making any bold predictions for any upcoming flick as the BO atmosphere is too volatile and toxic to even make a clear prediction on how well a movie will do, 2023 alone has been somewhat of a disaster with very few anomaly seeing profits so far at the BO. These 3 upcoming blockbusters out between now and next week remains my litmus test to know if the earnings from cinematic features have actually gone mad.

How do people live with such cognitive dissonance?

You don't want movies at the cinema. You wait for it to come out 3 months later.

But you somehow want to judge a movie's box office that is decided closely after one month of release.

Across the spiderverse will be out on DVD and download in September, yet one clown who is waiting to pirate it in that September will be chatting nonsense about box office.

Thunder fire you and box office. Box office kee you there

I always knew you were a CLOWN 🀑 now you've added comprehension problems to the resume; so lemme point it out incase you missed it. I said in the post you quoted "you only started changing your stance when you saw it's budget and industry projections for the movie"...

You admitting it'd be successful a week ago and pretending as if that was you initial stance means shΓ―t when you've always maintained it'd flop since December. πŸ€‘πŸ€‘πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ It only confirms your CLOWNERY.

LMFAO...
You see how you're even making yourself be a bigger Clown. It took you till July to know it's going to be successful before changing mouth.
That's how you always are, when caught lying or slapped with hard evidence you start to pivot sideways to avoid your L.

Your fellow naysayers like SOZINN and Phronesis also said it'd flop. After learning it'd be successful regardless, they respectfully collected their L like a man... But you wan dey form AGBA for wetin you dey shout flop since last year despite not knowing shΓ―t about what the movie is about.
You see how stupid you sound.
you just went ahead to type long nonsense...

My initial projections as at January was that it might flop...
But after getting more information as to budget and other factors...I changed my projections

Is there anything wrong with that?
It's been 7 months since my initial projections...am I not allowed to change them when I became privy to more information?

A lot has changed from December/January to now...

A MOVIE THAT LOOKED LIKE IT COULD FLOP AT JANUARY CAN LOOK LIKE A SUCCESS BY JUNE/JULY...
DIFFERENT FACTORS COME IN.

THE MARKET IS ALSO EVER CHANGING

So if I say Alita 2 might flop now...when I have little information, so I cannot change my projections a month or 2 before release when I have more information?

Even box office projections of industry professionals change weekly based on new information.

There is no crime in changing predictions once other factors set in

The movie is not even out till now

Going far back to bring December/january old posts to justify your point is clownery when my predictions have since changed when I got more information regarding the movie...

As if I'm not allowed to change a prediction I made 7 months ago...
And why are you assuming that I remained at the same stance since January when I changed it months ago?

I didn't know you two were capable of putting down the use of unwarranted hostility or insults during banter on this thread. Your contributions would have impressed me if they hadn't been so reeked of disgusting hypocrisy. Your opinions are really worthless because you pick and choose which "similar cases" to encourage and which to disapprove of.

I'm quite surprised you didn't easily join the conversation, yelling "vawulence", "vawulence" to stoke the flames. Could it be that this scenario is not one of those cases where you enjoy the same display of aggression and use of jibe? Go sit down and shove your opinion down your butthole because I see through your bullshit.

Okay violence master, MCU box office town crier clap for yourself, you've done well.

Yeah, the theatrical market place currently is too volatile and unpredictable for box office predictions.
Kinda forgotten a wee bit that we still have PR nightmare Amber Heard. Difference is Amber ain't the main character or protagonist.

Screentests don't really determine how a movie will fare... especially when there's a huge gap in time between the test results and release date. AQ2 test screenings also had different versions on each screen test... They all varied. The first screen test was great until the last few ones. So I don't put my trust on them. They could change things up especially since AQ2 has had extensive reshoots all through this year.
Even Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas had disastrous test screenings back then and test audiences walked out in the first few minutes. The final product is a critical darling today.

Let's wait and see sha.

Attack on Titan
My Hero Academia
Star Trek: Lower Decks
Animaniacs
Harley Quinn
Central Park

Will be hard since AOT isn't Hollywood but I hope it wins it...
