A Nigerian man named George Onyekachi Onuoha has been tragically beaten to death in Indonesia.

According to reports, Onuoha was killed by a group of individuals believed to be 'Ambon boys' in Tangerang, located in the Banten province, on July 9, 2023.

An eyewitness, who is also a Nigerian, shared that the reason behind the attack remains unknown.

Expressing frustration, the witness stated, "This happened on Sunday morning in Indonesia, our brother, a Nigerian man, was mobbed and killed by the locals. This is not the first time. It keeps happening, and the embassy is useless. They do nothing."

Chief Omeogo Okolie, the President of the Nigerian community in Indonesia, confirmed the incident, expressing deep sadness over the loss


He stated, "We can confirm the sudden death of our brother, Late Mr George Onyekachi Onuoha, (Mazi), who was murdered by suspected Ambon boys at Tangerang yesterday, July 9, 2023." Okolie added, "Preliminary information on the cause of his death is NOT a case of mistaken identity; it shows he was a target.

Police have officially commenced an investigation, and although no arrests have been made yet, we hope the official report from the police will come soon.

We trust that all those involved, both insiders and outsiders, will be arrested, and the full update on that will be made public for Nigerians to know."

In the meantime, Okolie urged everyone to remain calm, law-abiding, and cautious as they await further developments. He also mentioned that Onuoha's body has been taken to the mortuary.
