Stop the LIES......you have

The fact alone that you have Nigerian citizenship means you have benefitted.

Until recently you were benefitting from petrol subsidy.

If you have gone to higher institution you have enjoyed subsidized education.

LOL...someone should explain to oga what a subsidised education entails.

Subsidised education means you pay a token...not the actual amount in cash.

If you want to see how much your school fees would have cost without subsides, check out the private universitas. Or even foreign universities.

I used to think like you until I started hearing from the few friends and relatives that went abroad to places like US to study. That is when my eyes opened. The final straw was when my mother broke the news to me when I was moaning about how my fees had risen one time....she sat me down and told me that fees in Naija are subsidised.

My course that I read in Nigeria...graduated without debt. If I read it in the US...by the time I would be graduating....my debt would be upwards of over 100000 dollars. (I even know someone who read masters in US and is paying off debt..for masters. BSC dey o!)

Even countries like Germany that do free tuition...when it comes to accomodation, you go pay well well. Nothing like hostel...na to pay rent like other people you go do. cheesy

We lived a life of so much freebies, and we need so much more that we forgot that so many Services by the government are highly subsidized.

I attended a Federal University in the South South Region of Nigeria, precisely UNICAL, in the late 90s, my Year One school fees was N5,970.00.

Perhaps the exchange rate then could be N50 to $1. You can imagined how much I would have paid in the US or UK.
Upon that I only paid Year One school fees.
The rest was paid during final year clearance.

Which university outside Nigeria would allow that luxury?

Our leaders are bad, I agree, but for you to say that you have benefitted nothing from Nigeria is not entirely true.

Your health and education are heavily subsidised, and the tax rate is not as high as in developed countries.

We are deceiving ourselves, and that's not much of a problem. The serious problem is that we are pretending and behaving as if we don't know that we are deceiving ourselves.

I share your view bro. Let's divide the country for the benefit of all that is involved. Nothing will ever work as long as we remain here as a unit because we will keep on putting square peg in a round hole.
