Many factors come into play here. I ventured into tech a year ago and the bootcamp in enrolled at started us with the very basics. Many people just want to jump into writing code right away but there's so many things you should start with like understanding Linux and being able to maneuver yourself around a Linux terminal, version control, shell scripting, vim, emacs etc I would advice anyone willing to thread any path to at least start by being a full-stack. Start with html, css, javascript, frameworks like bootstrap/tailwind,react/vue/next then learn api and database and some back-end(python, nodejs, java) build stuff while you're at it and learn some ui/ux(FIgma/photoshop). After you have fully understood(maybe not fully but at least enough to build stuff) you can maybe land a job and then use your free time to pursue better fields like cyber security, cloud etc

Make this people rest.

There's nothing like "saturated". Don't let this Twitter takes dissuade you from taking whatever steps you want to. How many jobs can you do? Just learn and be good at what you do, and you'll get jobs. Don't be discouraged.

This only applies to people moving into the tech space blindly and with the only intention of making money.
I always tell people to go into tech if they have identified a problem they intend to solve and also have passion for it. You will surely make money from tech. If you love data analysis, go for it. If you love web development, go for it also. You can make lots of money from any tech field. The worst is when you jump into a tech field you have zero passion for simply because you were told that the field is less saturated and pays alot, only for you to spend lots of money and time on tutorials and get bored after a while before you eventually give up.
I have a friend who started his journey into programming by learning web development. He later started listening to people and reading articles that talked about less saturated and high paying tech fields. The guy switched midway to data analysis and data science and after nearly 2 years of learning data analysis, he made no headway and has now returned to web development.

God's grace?
Do you think front end is saturated already?

I agree with your first part.

People should learn their way around a terminal, bash scripting and version control. Learn how to use curl etc.

After that, i would recommend any programming language. I would also have a bias towards JavaScript and Typescript even before HTML and CSS. If you are Python inclined, you can go towards Python.

Learn how to build backends with your programming language of choice. Then, you can delve into stacks like ansible, vmware, openstack etc if you are brave enough. These are the skills needed in japaland and not how to center a div.

I make more money writing less than 20 lines of devops code than i can dream of in building a complete react website and i am not even a pro. Where do i even start competing from in the website mass production market with all these 10k naira php websites?

Many people recommend HTML and CSS as starting points but i am of the opinion that this is flawed and just wastes people’s time. This is why many people are still stuck at frontend and they believe that is all to know about programming.

My take is, for someone coming into tech for the first time, it's easier to start with HTML, CSS and JavaScript. These will give you the visuals to see first hand what you're doing. When you see in real-time how what you write translate into something magnificent, you'd be inspired to do more.

While I may not say frontend is saturated, what the influx into the role means is you have to be very good with your craft.

Other tech fields are harder to break through for entry level except you're just lucky. This is because real learning will take place at enterprise level.

Let's take DevOps for example. There are too many bottlenecks that only working on enterprise projects and a lot of them will develop you fast enough.

To summarize, if you're lucky, jump on entry level roles in cyber security and DevOps and data analytics but if you're looking to be inspired as someone who's never done anything tech, by all means, take html, css and JavaScript.

This.

Most importantly, they should learn how GNU/Linux works and/or UNIX if that's the environment they'd wanna work with

Tech is exciting when you're a junior dev

Once you become a senior engr , you start thinking about leaving tech and going into farming

That's funny, I have been into farming and now I want to go into tech please advise me I have experience with graphics video editing PC and very little coding, what would you advise me to go for in terms of learning IT (and earning as well)

living on a farm is lovely especially if you have a comfortable residence where you can have your internet and do what you want inside and then go outside and handle your farm as well.

In fact I'm ready to go back to the farm but I need to have a lucrative iT job s can do online when I'm on the farm please what would you advice thank you
