LagosFirstSon:There is no getting around it. It's a bitter pill we have to swallow that we should have swallowed like 10years ago. If anything the main damage was done by Buhari, whose old School protectionist polices dried up the supply of dollars to the economy and caused naira to devalue even more than it might have if he'd just left the market alone. Asides just the exchange rate, buhari's incompetence ruined this economy. If $/NGN was still say N480, at least this removal of subsidy wouldn't be so bad. |

Acekidc4:Take my advice for your own good. Most times when one sees that one is wrong about a perception, being silent is better that sounding stupid to defend oneself. You said everyone is blaming Tinubu for unrelated problem. You know that’s not true. The economy is being affected by the two major decisions he made without providing cushions and you think the masses, that majority didn’t actually voted for him will be quiet! |

haslaw:Igbos know how to play politics without bitterness and have since moved on after the elections as they are true republicans in their traditional political settings. People have become impoverished by the sudden fuel subsidy removal, though it's not a bad thing entirely, without the provision of remedies to overcome the steep rise in energy costs among other issues. Let us focus on facts, instead of stoking primordial divisions that will do nobody any good. The Government has spoken about Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), let us encourage them to do a speedy and widespread deployment of resources to convert Trucks, cars and public transportation vehicles to CNG driven ones ( I learnt CNG is about N100 per liter). The above measure will reduce the cost of public transportation, reduce the high cost of foodstuffs as they are transported by trucks. It will also improve productivity and the economy as most companies will return to full production and work schedules. |

haslaw:You can not know my people better than myself. If I have a different political opinion from you, it does not mean that I hate you; you guys should learn to differentiate political choices from personal and emotional feelings. For example, Orji Uzor Kalu(OUK) is a tight friend of Peter Obi (PO), but politically they are different; OUK supported Tinubu against PO at the last Presidential election, but yet they are still friends. Politics is not about hate or personal emotions, but that of group and personal interests. If you don't want a Political Party that will increase taxes, definitely, you will vote for one that will maintain the current level of taxes or even reduce it. |

AK481:See this one. I work for my money and I appreciate God for the blessing. I hustle morning, afternoon, night. I am not fucking lazy because i understand no one owes me anything. I hustle both I the sun and in the rain. I am hustling as I make this comment. I can't afford to fail. NEVER. I don't give excuses, everything is in my hand and by the help of God. I work round the clock from monday to Sunday. I sleep only about 6-7hrs in a day. I am sure you and your lazy clown sleep most times and waiting for government a d manner to fall from heaven. Instead of complaining, I keep working. I despise fucking lazy people who give excuses for there failures. No one cares, your failure is your failure and it doesnt concern anyone. Na you go suffer am. If you like wail from now till Tinubu leaves power, your wahala. No seat up and get things done and be shouting Tinubu there. Maybe your destiny is tied to Tinubu you will tell me. Peace out |

grandstar:The odds are certainly better than they were before Buhari stepped down, but there's still a long way to go before Nigeria is seen as an attractive destination. In the short term, the ongoing challenges to the election results need to be dealt with, after which there's the question of who will run the CBN, and who will be the finance minister. In the medium term, it remains to be seen what Tinubu plans to do about the bloated size of the government, what he will do about reducing the barriers to trade (e.g. import bans, extremely high tariffs, etc.), reforming the dysfunctional energy sector, handing over the air and seaports to deep-pocketed investors who know what they are doing, and taking serious steps to decentralizing the security architecture of the country - as in local police forces with real accountability to their populations, rather than just more special task forces or throwing more cash at the utterly discredited NPF. Basically, what investors will want to see is whether Tinubu is committed to overhauling the Nigerian state for the long term, or whether he will be intimidated by the backlash from the subsidy abolition into taking only timid, uncontroversial steps going forward. Nigeria has a serious credibility problem abroad due to its long-standing history policy zig-zags and grand pronouncements without follow-through, so it is going to take a reasonable stretch of consistent implementation of reforms to convince investors that this time really is different. The silver lining here is that the steps Tinubu needs to take to win over foreign investors are the same ones he needs to unblock growth even without taking FDI into account. |

lozanni:You claim Igbos have moved on but how do you explain their constant attacks on Tinubu and FGN. Igbos don't know how to move on, if not how do you explain their 8 years constant attack on Buhari to the point that they were claiming that Buhari was dead and that a clone and/or Jubrin from Sudan was the one ruling Nigeria It's easy to come to nairaland and make statements that you know are not true. You say Igbos have moved but you that is very far from the truth because if you go on twitter, you will see loads of hate statements being made continually by Igbos at Tinubu and FGN |

haslaw:Generalisation is the problem you have. That some people attacked Buhari and are attacking Tinubu means that they are Igbos? I have Yoruba friends and I know what many of them were saying about Buhari, especially concerning appointments in certain places like NPA etc, but it did not mean that generality of the Yorubas hated PMB because that will be outright generalisation. Also, my Yoruba friends were actually attacking PMB's clannishness in making certain appointments and not because they hated PMB as a person. For Tinubu, many Nigerians, including Igbos, are attacking his removal of fuel subsidies without putting in place remedies like introduction of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for trucks, vehicles and tricycles to cushion the effect of the removal of subsidies on the populace and not necessarily because they hate Tinubu. However, most Nigerians, are in the habit of insulting their leaders for their personal problems, which is not good. Goodluck Jonathan suffered abuse, PMB suffered it too and maybe that is why Tinubu is passing through the same thing also. I have cautioned many people, including Igbos, not to insult Tinubu or any other leader. They can criticize their polices or inactions as it will definitely affect them, positively or negatively, but it should not be reduced to personal attacks or insults. |

Acekidc4:So in the case of Nigeria and Nigerians, are you saying the Government is not to be blamed? |
| Re: Fuel Hike: Public Complaints Company Adjusts Work Schedule by grandstar(m): 1:03pm On Jul 23, 2023 |
chigbokingsley:Oshiomole fought against fuel subsidy removal throughout the duration of OBJ's government. As a governor, he realized too late that it cost the government a lot of money and it shortchanged all 3 tiers of government. He was as ignorant as you. In 2012, he sheepishly supported GEJ's removal of the subsidy. Again, he was as ignorant as you. |

lozanni:One of the biggest problems Igbos have is that they hate the truth and you are not an exception. You mention a few Yoruba people attacking Tinubu. Can you compare that to the mob attack he is getting from the South East on a daily bases The only exception you have is that you are yet to directly insult me even though some of your statements are snide. Also, learn to criticize objectively. Why remove subsidy from A and put it in B. Is that not robbing Peter to pay Paul? If that is not hypocrisy, I don't know what is? The only reason some Igbos (including you) are not out rightly lashing at Tinubu over the subsidy issue is because Obi promised to remove it immediately. |

haslaw:There you go again with your generalisation again. You started your reply with ' one of the problems of you Igbos...' I can tell you have never travelled to the east before so how can you tell that Igbos are so concerned with Tinubu? The Igbos have no time for hatred of Tinubu or any other person, infact they hardly discuss him the way you think. The last time I attended a late Aunty 's Service of Songs program, the main song that was being played was 'Asiwaju' by the Musician, Ruger and everyone was nodding their heads to the song, even though they were mostly Igbos. Travel to the east and you will see the love Igbos will show you and you will get first hand information about how things really are and not what some tribal bigots are telling you. |
