internationalman:Nigeria get far more than oil to survive |

greggng:If the strategy is to tax the people into poverty to reduce the population, then it would fail woefully. In fact the reverse will ensue. Even though poor people die earlier than rich folks due to poor living conditions and poor heath services, they procreate more children and much earlier. Among poor families, the daughter gets pregnant and give birth (often in her fathers house) before the age of 18, many before 16. By age 21, some would have had 2 to 3 children. Same goes for boys, by 25 many would have had 2 or 3 baby mamas. For rich families the daughters often marry and have children late, often in her Kate 20s to early 30s due to schooling and career, and have fewer children. This is the main reason the population of rich countries is declining. Their women are delaying having children due to schooling and pursuing a career. |

Nononsense247:False. For a population of 200 million, the oil is not enough to go round. |
| Re: Germany And Nigeria Population In 1980 Compared To Now by internationalman(m): 12:32am On Jul 20, 2023 |
Nononsense247:Oga what's your argument exactly. Nigeria is 200million people and the US is 330million people. The US produces 11 times the amount of oil Nigeria produces a day. So, do the maths.. Nigeria is not even in the top 10 oil producing nations in the world.. For your information the US is number 1.. |

internationalman:Nigeria's oil ranks with Norway's and Norway is 5 million people |
| Re: Germany And Nigeria Population In 1980 Compared To Now by internationalman(m): 9:02am On Jul 20, 2023 |
lawani:Imagine how rich Norway would be with their oil and little population. People don't actually know that Nigeria doesn't produce enough oil for it's population. In fact we are a poor country. |
| Re: Germany And Nigeria Population In 1980 Compared To Now by lawani(m): 9:45am On Jul 20, 2023 |
internationalman:Not really poor. We have well watered lands, fairly educated population and the country has potentials to be rich and would have been richer if the people had no places to run to as it was in the olden days. However any country with many children even as the aim and ambition of able bodied youth is to travel out will be relatively poor. That can't be avoided. Hausas are the only large group that they don't travel out in large numbers but they do too in proportion to their number that is well educated enough to compete abroad |

lawani:True.. But I still think for an unproductive country like Nigeria, our huge population is a disadvantage. |

| Re: Germany And Nigeria Population In 1980 Compared To Now by lawani(m): 10:55am On Jul 20, 2023 |
internationalman:Population is only a disadvantage when children are plenty inside it but they are still market. Population is market and your number of taxpayers is always proportional to your population and taxpayers are the revenue source in any serious country. For example no country depending on taxes will open fire and kill one thousand unarmed Shiites within a few hours for being infidels. Out of 200 million? Such only happens in resource dependent countries |

lawani:All what you said is fact.. Thers seems to be no way out of Nigeria adversity. Taxing the large population would have resulted in large revenue. But how do you tax poor innocent citizens. |
| Re: Germany And Nigeria Population In 1980 Compared To Now by lawani(m): 11:56am On Jul 20, 2023 |
internationalman:You tax workers after fixing minimum wage then give part of the revenue to the unemployed while assisting businesses to be set up. That is how they do it across the globe |

internationalman:I know all these ... I meant Nigeria has a lot of work to do... So can't survive oil alone ... We need other sectors to run well to drive 220m population well |

Nononsense247:The only viable source of government revenue is the industry of all workers in the country represented by personal income tax. Any country whose revenue is not based on it is not optimal atimes not viable. Once you do it you become a developed country |

Nononsense247:That's true. That's what I'm trying to let people know. If our only source of wealth for over 200million people is oil, then we are a poor Nation.. Quatar has just about the same amount of oil as Nigeria, but their tiny population makes the oil sufficient enough for them. That's why they are a wealthy nation. Now USA and China are bad example of countries with large population and are wealthy when drawing comparison with Nigeria. That's because aside oil these 2 countries produce almost 50% of what the entire world consumes. |

internationalman:Most traded goods are oil, automobiles I think smart phones should follow. Japan and Germany lead automobiles while US, South Korea are leaders in mobile phone. All sorts of things are traded up to cocoa coffee cashew etc but things from nations with high cost of living maybe up to 1000 percent of how much it should be because of cost of production. If that is corrected then farmers from Russia, Ethiopia, Nigeria Ghana etc who produce for the world market will have a better deal as their purchasing power will rise. It will rise because prices of goods produced by city workers especially in the west will drop. Then the internal economy is always the largest comprising of trading, services, agriculture, manufacturing, offshore jobs and etc. I don't think up to ten percent of consumption is imported in any country. Nobody produces 50 percent of what the world consumes |

internationalman:Qatar that got barely 3m population... Nigeria needs other sources and start producing... Nigerias population can't survive on oil alone not possible but many don't know.... Anyone driving this nation now or later na serious work e go do |

Nononsense247:What is the work there? You can collect an average of 1000 per day from each citizen and that is like 200 billion naira which is almost 500 million dollars every day even as the country is presently |

Nononsense247:Don't you know the meaning of average?. It means some may pay 200 while some pay 50k but average will be over 1k easily. 700 billion dollars is too high because that is worth up to 30 trillion dollars in Nigeria if not more than. |
