I'm Kelly and I'll be speaking about Solar power systems in Nigeria.

This thread is gonna be a very long one but it will educate you and without me been biased and economical with the truth.

I've been in this industry since 2018 full time and I can categorically tell you what Is and what is not in this industry.

A lot of Nigerians feels once they have solar panels on the roof top automatically their battery must receive charges, a lot feels it is enough to spend a month or two on Google to browse the best brands in the market and stroll down to alaba international to buy the materials and get one random guy who calls himself an engineer to Install the system.

Sometimes while walking around, I'll see solar panels of about 30 units on someone's roof top and I'll be wondering why on earth will this clients allow this types of panels on his roof especially in Lagos, it's really pathetic and I'm too sure that such client will never get value for his money, I'm 100% sure about that. But you see, the more you look in this industry the less you see. It's a proven fact.

Meanwhile, here's a review from University of Nigeria, Nsukka from one of our clients who contacted us to help install a solar system for his club Senior staff Association of Nigerian university, UNN chapter

We procure all Materials, handled logistics from Lagos to Nsukka, installed and commission the system since January.

This is a 5kva system, the inverter is 5kva and it goes for 965k as at today just the inverter o lolz.

One baba Emma will browse on Google or jiji and come here to contest why will a 5kva inverter be that expensive when I saw it for 300k online..lolz

An average Nigerian believes that the only inverter size that can suit his energy need is 3.5kva and once he gets it he can use to boil beans with his electric cooker
Please ask questions before you get heart attack on solar power system.

You see, most batteries used in Nigeria today are all deep cycle batteries, with 50% depth of discharge. What does that mean? It means that if your battery capacity is 200ah at full charge and your load is or appliances as the case maybe summed up to 230w, a layman will tell you that you can achieve up to 10hours of electricity, that's what most of the solar vendors would say and even some so called engineer, they will get you disappointed because they may be right with their formula but they neglected the battery depth of discharge.

Once your battery gets to 50% discharged it will cut off supply and begin to beep for like 20 seconds and shutdown itself.


The right amount of backup time to be expected on a 200ah/12v battery and a 230w load is maximum 5hours don't get over excited or deceived.

Get your solar power system from a trained engineer who can help you assess your energy requirements, make good recommendation , design a suitable System, procure premium materials, plan for logistics, install the system and commission the system and also provide after sales service...call/WhatsApp: 07038567494

E no long like you stated. Bookmarked the page so I could read later and learn a couple of things about the solar since it was supposed to be 'a very long one', but only to read your short advert. 🙄

'a long thread' does not mean everything would be written in one day..there is no way you can understand me without having understanding sha

please kindly note, if your house is not properly earthed and you are using solar, no matter the quality of surge protector you have, lihting effect can still damage your inverter. meaning, your surge protector will just be there for fancy

Ok thank you for that one. Na to off am when lightening activates, just in case the earthing wasn't properly done. 👍
