An increase in Intreset rate is usually done to reduce borrowing and money in circulation so people saying it will lead to further increase in inflation aren't really correct. Less money around means less demand and if the law of the change of demand plays then less demand due to income and spending power usually leads to deflation because prices drop as no one has money to spend anymore.
