Tinubu will kill Nigeria economically, raising interest rate when the economy is about to collapse.... Adverse effects will be on the consumers, just brazen up and expect hike in the prices of goods and services....

Designed to mop up excess naira in circulation.
The idea behind raising interest rates is to slow economic activity, but not by too much. When rates increase, meaning it becomes more expensive to borrow money, consumers react by refraining from making large purchases and reducing spending. The idea is that in today’s high inflationary environment, this decrease in consumer demand can help bring skyrocketing prices back down to “normal.”

On the other hand however, with increases in unemployment and continuous high inflation, there is the risk of sending the economy into a recession; it’s a delicate dance.

It shall be well with us in this country. If only someone can borrow me one million naira now ( I will pay back with interest ) it will save me from early grave currently.

This will encourage savings and reduce money is circulation. It will also encourage investments in the economy, but make borrowing difficult.

How do you intend to cool the economy. Now it becomes more expensive to borrow money, consumers will definitely refrain from making purchases and spending reduces. Yet fuel price is alarming.

This rate hike won't bring down pump price, will it?

Too much liquidity in the economy..... so the CBN did this to manage inflation in the country. When the economy stabilizes, they can now begin to reduce the interest rate gradually.

Here we go again. Anti-people policies left, right and center yet they had the guts to suggest throwing 70billion naira to 400 extremely wealthy people for furniture.

Evul gofament!

You will soon see the modafcukas paid to kiss his @ss turning this to a "good thing" as usual and then convince the gull!ble people suffering from severe Stockholm syndrome to start bowing to thier sl@ve master for increasing thier pains and suffering.

An increase in Intreset rate is usually done to reduce borrowing and money in circulation so people saying it will lead to further increase in inflation aren't really correct. Less money around means less demand and if the law of the change of demand plays then less demand due to income and spending power usually leads to deflation because prices drop as no one has money to spend anymore. Nigerian society can be funny so no be everytime principles dey work
