Many people asking why Tinubu will not prosecute the elites that exploited subsidy and currency do not have good understanding of how govt works. A previous govt authorized the subsidy programme. This made it a legal contract. A previous govt also permitted CBN acting as conduit for selected few to impoverish and exploit poor citizens. These authorizations made the contracts legitimate. On what ground is he going to prosecute them, is it for exploiting the market? No he cannot, under rules of capitalism it is also legal to exploit market. It is poorly termed free trade. As long people continue to speak and comment on govt affairs without truly understanding how govt works, the more your displayed ignorance will also be exploited on the political end. Politicians are salesmen and they know their product is bad for you, but they must find buyers otherwise they will loose. So they study what you are likely to buy, and they mask their bad product to mimick that and hook you. So I want Nigerians that come to Nairaland to comment to study how govt work and use that knowledge to comment on govt affairs. Ok, if any of these elites have failed to pay taxes on their ill gotten wealth, yes Tinubu can nail them. If evidence exist that they bribed or obtained these contracts illegally, or bids were flawed, yes he can use these areas of law to prosecute. But he must have solid evidence to prosecute. Do you know how many times NNPC building caught fire or FIRS caught fire in the past 20yrs?  . Abi you think those are ordinary fires? 1 Like |
