All the best. Keep speaking in French. Speak to people, record and listen to yourself. Use Google to see how you are faring, watch movies. Keep watching and writing.

Let me console you a bit, as painful as it may sound ,I know CBT can be messed up at times . When I did mine then. 1 hour into the time the center couldn't download the test software that morning. Everybody started with different paper differently . At times I was even afraid to backspace to verify my answered questions so that I won't go and close the program and submit cos they just started the CBT program then. Only one invigilator will be monitoring two test rooms with different students with different problems. TEF preps can be challenging, so behold Canada and find strength to rewrite again. I know you want to fight for it, fight, but still prepare. You may have to still focus on all modules again, trust me this time around. He go dey easier as you don do am before. Cheers.

Thank you so much. I was really livid when I saw the results. We were also delayed for almost an hour because their computers wouldn’t work. After CE and CO, the computers froze again. The invigilator had to renter his details for us to access the EE. The speaking was the only reasonable part. I know there’s the possibility of taking TEF again, but I just want to see how far the appeal will go. I’d rather resit just EE than the entire 4.

You mean you started learning for TEF in January?!
You got this!!
I understand you completely. I hope you're able to get a favorable review... Hang in there...

Actually I started in February when I realized the extra 50 points would clearly produce an ITA immediately. Thank you so much for the support. I appreciate this space.

he shock u ! How far? What stage are you now? Have you written TEF or about to write?

No sir, don’t use my prep time to judge. To be fair, I started more like from A2 stage because I’ve been in the French space before. Attended AF Ikeja from 2013-2014 and covered A1-B2. So I didn’t start from scratch in February. Still, it’s been a loooot of work because the margin between my two TEF scores is really wide. So let’s all keep working towards the goal. It’s worth it in the end.

Shalom.

I got you. Mostly EE and EO is the bane of many students. The key is just practice and strategies though. It can be really frustrating to practice like 70 letters, maybe 50 fait divers before moving to speaking with all its logical connectors wahala. Anyways, God is your strength, many people passed through this fire and are still passing through it, you will also scale through. I understand the pain and preparation, we all did. You will succeed too I believe with better preps. Cheers.

hello,

i just attempted the tef exam a few days ago. your story is quite similar to mine as i was also in the french space about a decade ago and also did Delf A1-B2. but because of the 10yr gap and lack of immersion i forgot almost all my french. i started taking weekly private classes in march, and as mentioned earlier, i just recently sat for my first TEF attempt. to be honest the EO was not a walk in the park. so with that brief history i would like to request some info from you if you do not mind;
1) how long did you take revision classes before your first exam attempt?
2) was the first attempt favourable?
3) how many other attempts did you make before succeeding to the almighty nclc 7?
4) how significant a gap from your first attempt and the successful one?
5) how did you go about preparing for the following attempts, what did you do differently that aided in your success?
6) can i prepare without a tutor after having experienced the test and having an idea of where my weakness are. can i polish up on my own or must i engage a tutor again (private tutors are very very expensive)
7) should i look for a tef tutor specifically, does it make a difference?
cool how many points did you get from your second language and is it worth it uploading my results with a lesser tef score?
9) how long do the results take to be released? i am sitting on the edge of my chair since the exam, the suspense is killing me.

thanks in anticipation.

My personal advice to those thinking TCF or TEF, please go for TEF.

The questions are repeated for TEF unless they have changed things since I wrote in 2019.

This helped me make C2 in both comprehesion orale and ecrite. It also helped me smash my French Nat exam. Some questions from TEF Canada were repeated in the TEF Frech Nat exam.

I coached my wife for the French Nat Exam in 1 week and she made B2 in comp ecrite. He French was not good. Past questions helped.

You can also crack the expression ecrite. The expression orale is as the discretion of the examiner. If you have a "tête de bite" as an examiner, they will screw you.

In all go for TEF Canada. If you are a serious student, you will smash. If I could teach my wife to smash in 1 week imagine if you have been studying for months.

All the best.

One piece of advice, stop saying "bon courage". It is a negative word but people do not realise cause they follow others like sheep. You can say "bon chance", or better still, wish the person success. "Bon courage" sounds like the person is going to hell and you are telling him/her to hold forth whilst there, like saying "stay strong in hell". Wish them success rather.

hi,
the bolded caught my attention. please elaborate, does this mean that the EO is marked inhouse and does not get marked in France as with the other 3 modules? i was of the opinion that everything is "shipped" to francais des affaires for marking. my EO was more or less a trainwreck. i dont know how to improve without immersion in a francophone country.
is it over for me?

Hello guys, I sat for the TEF Canada exams on the 6th of July 2023, and my results are out. I have obtained the 50 bonus points for French as a second language. If you need help with preparations for the exams, speaking partner, study partner or study tutor, let me know. My contact details are on one of my previous posts here.

Massive congrats to you.
I wish to get such scores. I also noticed that there were some repetitive questions as I had attempted past papers and came across two or three such instances in the official exam I attempted a few days ago. Because I have no time to waste, I will continue to prepare just in case my EO makes me rewrite the entire paper. With that said, please assist with access to the 85 long text for CE. I know first hand just how important it is to master them.

I also noticed that it took only a week for your results to be released and not the 1 month I kept hearing about. With that said, any other advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I honestly do not know how they mark it. I have not probed further. I know for sure that they bungled my EO. I had C2 before in a previous TEF (not Canada) and I feel I did everything to get more than what I was given.

I had the necessary points to get selected so I did not push it further. Some of the examiners even in France are not as good as you would expect. I have written at least 6 different French exams in France for different reasons (professional and personal). Exams like French for Engineering metier, TCF, TEF, TEF Canada, TEF Nat. I attended French languages schools here and my French tutors even know some of the examiners. So there are levels. I have always had what I expected or more in all but the TEF EO.

The "chewing gum" examiners are not detailed. Pray you do not cross them.

Do not worry too much about this. Work hard and be positive. Confidence comes with good preparation.

As for accents and pronunciation, all you need to do is to interact with a French speaker online. There are millions of options online. You can make pen pals from a multitude of sites. Then, you have to go into your cocoon. Think in French, speak French, listen to French. No time for slacking.

With practice comes perfection.

2nd draw is at 375......3,800 invited.

If that's not motivation, I don't know what is......everyone who passed TEF and TCF should have ITA now....Congrats all!!!

25th July 2023 OINP French draw: CRS 321-374. I wonder if that could be an indication that the Federal French draw will dip even lower than the current record of 375 CRS. Definitely definitely motivational.

Now if they only remove the 2 months mandatory gap between two TEF attempts and allow us squander our money on as many attempts as required to secure that NCLC 7 at the earliest possible convenience.

Hello,
First, I would like to wish you success in your results. So, I have not yet cleared the almighty band 7,lol. I’m retaking the test because I’m a few points shy of the B2+ in EE

My first attempt was a bit of a joke. My tutor warned me before hand to see it as a way to familiarize myself with the experience(the computer format, the nerves…) because the timeline I gave myself was quite unrealistic. I started self learning in February but switched to tutor based in March and then took the test in April. Results were actually not bad considering my placement test was at A2. I had CE B1, CO B1, EOB1(the nclc4), EE B2. And yes, my EO was a disaster😅. I had pockets of silence where the examiner had to point at her tab to show me there was still time left. Anyway, the test added only two points to my CRS score. A few days later, IRCC yanked off 5 points on my birthday. So I replenished 2 points that wouldn’t have been there if I didn’t upload my result. 😁

I proceeded to take another in July. This time I added more hours to studying. Ate, slept, soaked in the exercises on Prepmyfuture, la langue française on YouTube and increased my tutor’s classes from 3 hours a week to 5. She also took it upon herself to add some free classes. The results showed the hard work. CE B2+, CO B2+, EO C1, EE B2. I appealed my EE score majorly because I was slowed down due to the dim screen I complained about at the beginning of the test but the frenchies said it wasn’t a ‘major technical anomaly’. So I’m going again. To answer the question of points, this second time I obtained 10 points. I have been updating my EE profile as I go because who knows if IRCC will wake up one morning and drop the nclc to 6? 🥹

As for Q7, I read everywhere that you should get a TEF based tutor but I would also like to note that TEF and DELF are similar so as long as you a get a qualified tutor in exams, the rest is structure and constant practice. I have now resumed studying from 1am to 5am Mondays to Thursdays and watching French with Alexa(to sort of revise things I’ve learnt before), Dylane (she’s very good at explaining) and French movies and shows on Netflix(whenever there’s pockets of spare time during the day). The reality show “the Ultimatum” is a fantastic way to enjoy natural sounding French helpful for EO. I’ve watched it twice now scrutinizing how they effortlessly add their conditionnel, subjonctif and even for the informal words(helpful for section B).
Q9- I was shocked to receive both my tests results one week after even though they tell you 2-4 weeks.

As for my tutor, I met her on preply but she’s resident in Abuja. She’s Cameroonian. I find that this third attempt, she’s more of a guide than a tutor because we’ve basically laid down the ground work and now we’re tweaking styles to shatter this B2+ ceiling. I pray I return with good news. I hope I’ve helped to answer all your questions.

Happy new month everyone!

Happy new month everyone!

Pls read here: https://www.nairaland.com/4672912/all-tef-candidates-canada-immigration/119#96482669

Especially this https://www.nairaland.com/4672912/all-tef-candidates-canada-immigration/70#84372099

For EE, dialectic structure and adding quite a bit of sujonctif is a CLB7 ceiling breaker. Just Google dialectic essay writing French and perhaps have a handy structure for your letter ready in advance that can fit into any topic ( the intro and last paragraphs). Of course, use sophisticated connectors and leave the common ones.

I love how you keep updating your points as you go.

Wishing you the best!

Hey!
I am so very grateful. Everything you said is just what I needed to know. First of all a big hearty congrats, the gap between your two results shows that you really put in the hardwork. I also got my results yesterday and sadly I am yet to make B2 in two components. EE -B2+, CE- B2-, CO -B1 and EO -B1. cry
I can not say I am too disappointed because after a 10yr gap, it is somewhat encouraging that I could even make it to that 1 B2+. In retrospect my CO was not upto par because of a system glitch too. And just like in your case, the examiners said that its completely normal and should not have any effect on my performance. I was issued a new candidate number only for the CO as the entire thing stuck for 10 minutes and so I had to restart that particular test. I wonder if there is a possibility that results could get mixed up because my placement test put me at B2 for CO. My tutor was also surprised that I got B1 because he felt that CO was where my strength lied. Oh well.
Ha ha ha, the EO was just like in your case. I have never known 5 minutes to be so long in my whole entire life. cheesy The examiner literally had to tell me, "vous n'avez pas d'autres questions?" grin ... The section B now, 10 minutes of lethal brutality to other people's language.. cheesy The struggle is real. grin. Anyway that's that for round 1.

With that said, I am also to resit the paper, probably this September to try and get the ideal scores. I feel 2-10 points is not worth updating on my profile because the last draw saw a cutoff of 435 (2 august 2023 Express entry French draw). With my current CRS it will be a waste of time adding the 10 or so points.
Thanks for the advise for virtual immersion, I am on it with immediate effect. I agree that this time around the tutor will only be guiding because, as you so rightly put it, we have laid down all the groundwork.

Incase you want a French chat buddy please feel free to reach out, I need all the practice I can get. Best wishes for your final attempt! Yes, i have faith that this is your last sitting, so go and smash it! Make us proud. ; smiley

A bientot.!

Hi guys, if anyone needs assistance passing the TEF exams, I am available for now to help with all aspects (reading, speaking, writing and listening). I took the TEF exams on July 6th and I cleared it (the screenshot of the results is on my profile and in a previous posts). My contact details are on some of my previous posts.

The latest Canadian Express Entry draw (2nd August, 2023) was just held. Express Entry draw 260 saw a CRS score of 435 and invited 800 eligible for category-based selection for French-language proficiency.

Tie-breaking rule: July 31, 2023 at 09:57:30 UTC

French gives us an edge as regards to immigrating to Canada via the Express Entry program, it is no longer just about the 50 bonus points any more, there is a "French category" for bilinguals (requirements: a score of at least band 7 in all the tests of IELTS and a score of more than 450 points in all tests of the TEF exam).

You will lose your money if you attempt that. Alliance Française has become strict. Anybody who tells you that he can help you sit for the exams is just lying. The had a cheating allegation last year which got them suspended for months. As a consequence, they have changed all the coordinators of TEF exams. The coordinator of the exam in Ikoyi is a white French woman, courteous but she was strict all through out the exams (when I sat for them).

You WILL lose your money to fraudsters!

Nigerians and fraud

That's because in general, the Nigerian environment encourages illegal shortcuts and bribery. Most Nigerians know how to behave themselves when they are in countries where such things are not condoned.

Hello All,

My spouse received a Manitoba LAA in the recent draw.

1. Can I join a Telegram or Whatsapp group for guidance?

2. Is there a dedicated Manitoba PNP thread on Nairaland?

3. She has a cousin in Brandon, how will she prove this and what documentation is required? Her mum's half-sister (same mother, different fathers) is still her aunt right?

4. Our investments are in a Microfinance Bank, I hope this will not pose a problem. We have less than 30 days to respond to the LAA, do you advise we move the funds to a commercial bank? How do will do this without running foul of the Manitoba rules?

Thank you Moderators for the good work you are all doing.

Thank you2 Moderators for the good work you are all doing.

The main Express Entry thread would definitely have more people who can give you advice on that.
