it is suppose to lead to lower prices because they no longer ship out crude and ship in petrol. Transport cost is largely down. Labour cost too is significantly lower. Import taxes are gone too.
All these components you mentioned are insignificant to the price of PMS. Go and listen to the figures by GCEO of NNPC Limited.

Most people here don’t understand English 70 Naira will be saved from world price per Lit

Crude price fluctuations reason fuel is high Alll over the world currently is crude price

If it’s 612 per lit world price minus 70 Naira

70 Naira is cost of import on a lit
And you believe 70 naira is the cost of importing petrol? You have already fallen for the propaganda.

How can the price of a product we take from our own land, refined on our land by our people be determined by dollar being used in international trading?
Are we a truly sovereign nation? Some people are using lie to enslave us and so we need real liberation.

Don't mind them. Just thieves already programming Nigerians mind towards not significant difference. The difference should be huge. How can Nigeria with a poor wages structure be competing production cost as advanced countries.

Production cost should be cheaper in Nigeria and the output price should be so low. look at Venezuela. Anything above #200/ltr at our own refinery is not worth it

You don't know that resources, time and expertise go into extracting crude oil, and E&P players must sell to refineries to make profit.

Local refineries will only bring about product availability and competition, but there's no guarantee that it will lead to price reduction.
Why won't it bring it down? do you even know the cost of taking our crude out to refined outside or the cost buying from international market then cost of transporting it back home with all the useless charges and dumerage at the port? if the local refinery can not produce and below N200, then there is n need for NNPC to remain being manage by a Nigerians.QED

so what's the other cost in the price of petrol that makes the price slyrockets?

I thought the fx is the reason for the spikes and subsidy intervention.

There's definitely another big scam somewhere else

You are getting it wrong. It should lead to price reduction because cost of production in a poor country like Nigeria SHOULD be cheaper.

The cost of crude oil per barrel can be fixed but cost of production varies depending on how rich (minimum wage) the country operates.

You are delusional if you think the refineries, including Dangote's will bring down fuel price so significantly. It wont. What the IPAMN guy said is correct. It will only save you the landing cost, nothing more. Petrol will be sold at the international price, because these refineries will purchase the oil based on international price.

Secondly, there is no law that states that it must be sold to IPMAN. Dangote or NNPC can decide to sell to Indian or Algerian marketers on a first come first serve basis, afterall NNPC has been restructured to a profit-oriented limited liability company. It is no longer the NNPC of old.

At most, the refineries will save you 60-80 Naira. At best 100 Naira. nothing more
Re: Local Refining Will Reduce Petrol Price By N70/ltr – Marketers by Abagworo(m): 1:31pm On Aug 05, 2023
Simply means local refining will not take prices down significantly. Petrol will still sell between 550 and 650.

True, you have a point. But then, you have to consider that the cost of production is cheaper outside Nigeria. This is from former NNPC GMD Ibe Kachikwu because Nigeria lacks enabling infrastructure.... unless the government has fixed those things now.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vanguardngr.com/2016/03/its-cheaper-to-import-petrol-than-refine-locally-kachikwu/amp/
what other enabling infrastructure does local crude refine require beyond a "Refinery" ??
fix what & what ??
please educate me undecided why are Nigerian elites always hell bent on complicating life for the average Nigerians.

Many Nigerians don't know this, it's what Russia is suffering from the Gas fields in Siberia was been extracted and processed using western tech. As we speak the output have depleted due to lack of technology and technicians associated with the processing in order to maintain output.
