DWAN ADVISES CHIMAMANDA ADICHIE TO HANDLE NIGERIAN POLITICIANS WITH CAUTION

Our literary community's credibility is at stake, and we must uphold the values of unbiased expression and creative freedom."
DWAN finally urged Chimamanda Adichie to consider the diversity of her readership, which spans across various political spectrums. Remaining impartial and detached from partisan affiliations is crucial to maintain her wide appeal and continue fostering open dialogue among her readers.

A group of writers advised a fellow writer who first identifies as a Nigerian, but you feel "she's not in their camp". Why don't she identify as an international writer or a USA writer when she was writing her cultural centric stories? Since when she's been hobnobbing around Obi, what has changed for the later? The other day, she wrote a lengthy letter to Biden which I'm sure was thrown in a shredder. Talk about people who think too highly of themselves. They have a point, but truth is that nobody wants Nigeria to work like the vast majority of Nigérians who are successful and live abroad but still carry Nigerian passports. That's why the vast majority of them wanted Peter Obi, not Uncle Ebola.

I was thinking the same thing! When Soyinka likened Patience Jonathan to a hippopotamus and joined anti-gov’t protests led by the same cretinous characters in and around gov’t since 2015, where were these fools to caution him on the ‘merits’ of raising above the political fray!

Like was pointed out earlier on this thread, the fingerprints of the bigoted, anti-Igbo and emilokan Tinubu gang is all over this press release!

There’s another fool above that claims Chimamanda is not globally recognised, is a tribal bigot and her letter to Biden was of no effect! You have to wonder why his vile ilk are frothing at the mouth with insanity just because Adichie is associating with who she (and i for that matter) considers the better candidate! Why get hot under the collar about the associations of someone you want Nigerians to believe is ‘inconsequential’!? The fool must be naive and daft to have been expecting a public response from the White House on Adichies’ letter! Their relating with the mandate-thieving Tinubu gov’t is not out of choice or ‘proof’ they’re crazy about him! The US still maintains diplomatic relations with Nigeria (not Tinubu or APC) so essentially that contact between both will still be there! Their hands are tied to get involved in the internal affairs of Nigeria partly due to the docility of the average Nigerian who would rather sit on the fence and not be involved in effecting true change in his country…or in the alternative, seek to japa by any means! In addition to the aforementioned, the US is aware there’s an ‘appeals process’ presently going on, so even if they wanted to make public their feelings on an election every int’l observer has denounced as deficient in credibility and falling short of minimum electoral standards, they are diplomatically constrained to do this or appear to weep more than the docile bereaved!

The US was not constrained to ‘congratulate’ Tinubu knowing the questions surrounding his past (esp’ in the US) and his bigot-driven ‘victory’ at the polls, and this hypocrisy was what Chimamanda was trying to point out!
