Have you ever seen a leopard change it’s spot before?.
Their forefathers lied to them about the history of Nigeria and the civil war.
They know their region is responsible for all the mess Nigeria is today, but Shame will never allow them to speak the truth.
That’s why they resort in blaming everyone for their woes, some of them don’t know who drew the first blood in the war.
Who initiated power to be at center and refused to allow cessation clause?, all their problem is Hausa Fulani.
One question I ask them which they fail to answer is, if the federal government fails you, and you blame it on ethnicity.
What about your state governor who’s your tribe , senators, house of assembly members and local government chairmen, who you share the same ancestry with?.
why are they failing you?. also because if they ain’t falling, their region would’ve been like Dubai.
But guess what it’s rather their community populace that plays the role of the government in their region in terms of development, you can ask them if it’s a lie.
it’s never too late to start saying the truth that’s when Nigeria can move forward.
Sorry bro, I had to adjust this comment a little.
You explained everything in detail.
Kudos.

Oga you keep on promoting this half truth.... Ironsi abolished the regional system of government..... he made decree 34 in May 1967 and Gowon came to power July 1967....
Yes he Ironsi made decree 34. But the decree did not abolish the Regions. Why do you think Gowon came in after Ironsi and still met the same 4 Regions as Ironsi?

Why do you think Murtala Mohammed came after Gowon and met 12 states

Dont let peopke lie to you that Ironsi removed Regionalism with decree 34, do your own research

North wanted regions and west wanted regions but it was Azikiwe that carry matter for head and was aligning with UK against his own to say they were anti Nigerian and it was Aguironsi that disbanded the regions and made it a unitary system.

Me I no know if we can go back. If south east can collaborate to show us how they are working together since everyone has gotten used to Governor but na so they are chasing each other from their civil service.

Them too lie are at it again

I come in peace.

gidgiddy:
When you look at Nigerian history, the best times Nigeria had were during the times of the Regions. Nigeria had 4 Regions, all 4 Regions were controlling their resources, were semi-autonomous and progressed at their own pace.

In 1967, Lt Colonel Gowon used Decree 14 to abolish the 4 Region and create 12 new states, then followed this up with Decree 15 that abolished resource control. Subsequent military rulers, all from the North, subdivided the 12 States Gowon created, and tripled it to the 36 States we have today, in a well calculated move to make the North masters of Nigeria

This has created an all powerful and omnibus federal government that is holding the federating units by the neck. Producing the President of Nigeria has now become a do or die affair

There are over 250 ethnic groups in Nigeria and they can choose which Region they want create and belong to.

Theres no reason why we shouldn't have about 8 Regions in Nigeria, each one controlling its resources and giving up powers such as foreign affairs, immigration and customs, national defence to the federal government at the centre. Each Region developing at its own pace, and according to its talent.

Nigeria should go back to Regionalism, resource control, fiscal federalism and decentralised government. You cant be calling your self a Federal Republic when there is nothing federal about you

When will north and east regions come out then and support it. They complain when SW wants it. So maybe they should push for it and stop asking sw to do everything while fighting the same sw at the same time. Has any eastern or northern bloc declared intention for regional control like SW has? No. That’s why I don’t care about their crying about SW when they don’t want to build their lands

Always fighting.....even in the face of existential threats

Sense of reasoning is gradually dawning on you. Unlike the initial nzogbu nzogbu approach that has taken your region backward with your self-inflicted Sit at home.

Can you drum this into the ears of your angelic representatives who are saner than angel Michael since you know how to elect the best leaders?

How do you define regional border because of your past leader's penchant for intrusion into SS land is threatening

Don't you think state control of VAT is a step in the direction of regionalism as your 5states can pull resources together in the name of regionalism.

Seriously, your region together with the north is the region that has been a clog in the wheel of regionalism.

You can't go against State control of VAT, canvass for removal of state of origin, refused to form state police until you were embarrassed, and claim to develop Lagos and still be singing regionalism.

Is it not because of the thought of a presidency eluding your region that you now result to regionalism since it is clear that secession you won't get and presidency you won't get? Talk true

There's a difference between regional govt and abolishing the regions itself.

He gave you a very logical explanation. Gowon met 4 regions, Murtala met 12 states. Who then abolished the regions?

Lecture us Mr Lecturer, Aguiyi Ironsi promulgate a decree that abolishes regionalism. What was his intention for abolishing a thriving system only to introduce a unitary system if not greed to control the centre and have all the regions under his control?

No matter how many lies you were told and how much effort you put forth to change the narratives, history, is always there and it pointed in one direction the Igbo was the architect of the ruin of Nigeria

When Gowon came in, there were 4 Regions. By the time Gowon was kicked out, we had 12 states

So who do you think removed the Regions?
You lie. Aguyi Ironsi made the decree that dissolved the regions.

Baba there is no more region since Ironsi introduced the Unitary govt.. What we have is more or less of 4 states.

What Gowon did is break those 4 states into 12 so that the minority tribes will also have a sense of belonging and not be chocked by majority tribes.

If you want us to return to regional govt, just tell your leaders to also push for it.. Democracy is game of numbers.

SW people and their leaders have been pushing for it openly but it seems you people want the opposite of it to extent of pushing for abolishment of state of origin , but i can assure you that you are leading yourselves into a grave mistake because with that, you all have given away your freedom and your generation inherentance to fulani from mali and Niger because greed and something you will never have.

Now you see how the goal post has been shifted. Its no longer that Ironsi abolished the Regions, its that he introduced unitary rule

But how did Ironsi introduce unitary rule? Unitary rule does not exist where there is resource control and Ironsi never touched resource control the 4 Regions had

So Gowon was right to come in, abolish the 4 Regions, balkanise Nigeria into 12 states, take away resource control, just to give minorities a sense of belonging?

If that us the case, why are people dragging Ironsi's name? He left your 4 Regions for you, he left resource, control for you, the only thing he didn't leave for you is democracy, but neither did Gowon

Nigerians are funny people

A unitary system of govt is different from abolishing the regions and creating states. System of govt is different from a country structure interms of subnationals
