"A relatively simple explanation because many have asked: Chelsea need something like £450m profit (could even be more) from 22/23 and 23/24 player trading to balance the allowable trading loss over the last 3 years (conservatively). I reckon they did around £100m player trading profit in 22/23 with around another £75m so far from Mount, Pulisic, PEA, Livermento sell on profit and Ampadu.

Amortisation rises when you buy and does not fall if you sell a youth player for a pure profit.

So Caciedo, Lavia and Olise will add not only, say, £35m of amortisation in 23/24 but also, say, £25m of wages.

That’s more than the likely trading profit of selling Gallagher and Hudson Odoi although assume maybe £12.5m wage saving. But they needed that for the existing deficit before Caciedo etc.

This leaves Chalabah and Broja as profit opportunities. Most of the rest are at best neutral in terms of profits - Ziyech could lose quite a lot, Kepa neutral, Cucurella has a book value so high he can’t be sold for profit, Sterling the same.

So they are many £10s of millions short of break even under PL P&S in 23/24 even if they managed to just about comply in 22/23 (which I’m skeptical about too)"

Favourite or one of the favourites?

I think with the addition of Gvardiol and possibly Paqueta, I think city are still clear.

Rodri is really bossing it at the moment. They look unstoppable for now!
City don't need Paqueta to be better than Bayern. Even with the addition of Kane, City is still better than Bayern.

The difference between City vs Bayern last season was not Haaland like some people want to claim. The difference is Pep Guardiola.

The same reason some of the nonsense you read on the Arsenal thread is what it is. . .nonsense. When people make their permutations, they always forget that having Pep is like playing with Messi on your team. You automatically have an edge no matter how miniscule it might be.

You automatically have an edge, that is why he won his first city champions league since 2016 after spending both Vietnam's and Taiwan's military budget joined together. You even lost your hand due to your nonsense faith in apari but you are comparing him with messi.

What’s so special about paqueta ?

Dude can dance more than he can play football

Time will tell sha
TBH I've been watching videos of him more closely since the rumors started and although he is inconsistent, he has all the tools to become world class especially if Pep handles him and he plays with City players.

Zidane was another inconsistent moody player but people only remember his great showings because they were usually on the biggest stages. If Zidane played today he won't be regarded as better than Bernardo Silva. He will be like Paqueta I swear. grin

But that's talk for another day.

Kepa to Real Madrid

I think I love this grin
I'm sure they will still have a better season than your poverty stricken club especially when they sign mbappe. Real madrid wanted to sign kepa in 2018 before snaketois forced his move to them which made us put overpay to bilbao.
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Ibime(m): 10:56am On Aug 12, 2023
Kepa is an unwanted player that you sell slowly and politely.

Because there is no interest in him, it wasn't made obvious that he is unwanted. But as soon as any interest materialises, Chelsea will snap the hand off any suitor even for a low bid.

Hopefully we finally get rid of a 5 year headache. Lukaku, Ziyech and Sterling should kindly follow

Bayern Munich with a full season under Tuchel and the addition of Kane are better than City. They still need a good Dm and keeper.

True, but I still think with KDB injured, they need some additions. It could be any quality player other than Paqueta but of course pep is pep. He may even turn Palmer to something else or McTee. Lewis too. Lot's of obtions there.

City are UCL favourites!

Messi won how many world cups and UCLs? How many Ballon d'ors? Did Messi win every competition he was ever in? Did Pelé or Maradona achieve that? What false equivalency are you trying to poke at me?

I hope you are not a Chelsea lunatic fanatic making jokes about spending big budget. I don't even know why I am trying to go against the grain on this one. Lack of self-awareness is almost a Chelsea thing.

Same way you said they will have a better last season and we ended up winning the league and you hide your head in big shame ,Chelsea come do jara for you and made you cry more with relegation battle after spending 600 million on bunch of useless players who won’t even see shirt at raja Casablanca

You never see anything ,you go cry tire and use pains Dey type dead barka till your fingers go peel 🤡🤡

KDB is someone you should build your team around because he is generational but sometimes you need him out of the way so that the other players can express themselves better.

When he plays we cede all the ball to him and expect him to do all the creating but we are more dynamic when he does not play if I am keeping it a buck like Giannis.

I only mentioned him because he's been heavily linked to city and he's a quality player. May be not world class but quality!

Munich with a clinical striker would have dumped City out of the champions league last season and Tuchel was only there for 1 month. With a full season to drill his idea into his players and the addition of Kane they are favourites for me.

Na wetin we dey deal with every season.

They all claimed Bayern will beat City at the QFs of the UCL even when they knew Bayern did not have Kane. Tuchel got disgraced.

It is not about Kane.

They are giving Bayern the edge because of Tuchel which is why I was quick to point out that City is the better of the teams and why that is the case. Pep.

If you switched teams I'll make the same argument. Tuchel is not on that level and can never be.

I just used Messi as an example. I am tackling you for you saying with apari you have an edge for a competition he's won just once since 2016 after given unlimited funds and not being fired. You as a city fan knows that he won't stay that long at many clubs if he was just delivering league titles with no champions league till this point. Even he himself admitted the champions league is hard to win so don't come and tell us you have any advantage just because he finally won the trophy you were looking for. When it comes to epl we have nothing to hold him. He has destroyed our league.

Keep scoring own goals.

Even RM that are the winningnest UCL team don't win it every year so what is your argument? You are drawing big circles and all I want is the point.

It took apari 7 years to win his first champions league despita all his spending with your adopted club you ran to from your former club so don't come and paint him as one champions league messiah. Can apari survive in real madrid with that timeline?
