Anime series are TV series and are perfectly allowed on the TV series thread, the same way Western animated series are allowed on that thread.

Anime movies are also allowed on the movie thread the same way Western animated movies like Spiderverse are allowed on the movies thread

In case you don't know, manga is japanese comics which is quite different from anime, and while it can be permitted on the anime thread, it shouldn't include spoilers for something not animated yet

Hey guys. So, I'm trying to find good anime recommendations from seasoned watchers. I have a particular genre of anime that I like to watch. Ideally, it should be set in the past (medieval times, dark ages, world war, etc.), it should be historical fiction or non-fiction, have armies, kings, queens, wars, etc. Anime that I've watched and seem to fall under this category are Attack on titan, vinland saga, dororo, kingdom, berserk, dr stone, etc.

Can you recommend something similar?

I want to hear your onions regarding Mushoku Tensei's depiction of slavery. On twitter, the Anime is getting trashed, mostly by western viewers, due to their relationship with slavery. I would like to hear what you think about it. Should they have expressed more that slavery was bad? should rudeus personally do something about it?

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood: WWII-based fantasy setting. There is a backdrop of war and military action. Still a shonen anime, though.

Claymore: A medieval Europe fantasy settings where an elite squad of warriors take down monsters. Warning: the anime is great but the ending sucked.

Shigirui: Death Frenzy: Ultraviolent revenge story involving samurai in ancient Japan.

Arslan Senki: Probably the best fit to your requirements. It has medieval setting and there is a lot of war going on. Not my personal favourite on the list but still a solid show.

Akatsuki no Yona: A bit similar to Arslan Senki but set in ancient Korean instead with more fantasy elements.

Samurai Champloo: Set in Edo Japan. Two lone samurai escort a young girl to a destination. Hilarity, violence, feels, and everything in-between ensue.

Castlevania: Set in the medieval period. We get vampires, mages, demons, etc. It is not an anime but worth checking out.

Spice and Wolf: A traveling merchant has an encounter with an ancient wolf spirit. While this is not an action show, it has elements of all the other stuff you mentioned.
