There are levels to these things. Some people think about ending it but hesitate at the point of doing so or change their mind.
It's not easy to know when one would die or deliberately do so.

Why do you think many people come to social media to post suicidal thoughts and eventually carry it out? They are feeling suicidal and need help and attention. The difference in them carrying it out is the sympathy, motivation or support they get.
