The truth is, if they bring in fiscal federalisim, it is only the South South that would take the lion's share of the money, the rest of you, including your state would starve and starve heavily.

I have always heard this fiscal federalisim nonsense for years. It is based on the assumption that under the regions, each and every region did well and survived on gorundnut and cocoa and cotton and palm oil. Well, those days ended in the 1970's when we lost the UK market, and then when we got beaten by nations that mechanized their farming. Like palm oil...we cannot be no 1 because the no 1 nations like Malaysia and Indonesia all use mechanized farming to beat us to the ground. Same thing for cotton....we cannot compete with the USA. All the african countries that rely on cotton are in debt and are fighting a losing war against the USA'S massive cotton production...and the heavy subsides that the US government pays cotton farmers.

And it is not like fiscal federalism meant everyone had enough. It seemed like that because government spent disporoprionately on the cities and the educated, and left the rural areas to themselves. And guess who does most of the writing of the history. Well, in the 1970's we started expanding spending to the rural and the poor...and guess what...that's when we knew that the money was not enough.

(Same issue in many African countries...Sud Afrique is just finding out now that expanding benefits whites enjoyed to the rest of the population equals more debt and more financial losses).

No matter how much you cry fiscal federalism (and let's be honest, even though I am bashing your comment here, I believe that it is still a good idea if we did put some aspect into practice because i am tired of states waiting for Abuja money every month...what are states doing to earn their keep, ffs.?)...the fact is, it is not the 1960's anymore. The major farming nations have long since mechanzied, or scientificised. Even common tractor is run by computers. And all we have against these people are a man and his hoe. Or a woman and her hoe. Against massive combine harvesters and so on.

And don't bring up metals. Unless we are using the metals to make stuff, we might as well be broke.

The most painful thing about fiscal federalism is that we cannot set the prices of the stuff we want to sell. Even the oil self. If oil crashes to 20 dollars a barrel....as it may because everyone is discovering oil now....that means loans. And the same thing happens for every other stuff we want to produce self.

Stop asking for true federalism and go and ask your governor what he wants to do with the raw materials in your state. Go and ask Tinubu the same question or even Obi and Atiku. And if they do not talk about using what we have to make things the world needs....even if they are pretending when they do say that...don't choose them as your leaders. It is not the year 1965. Heck, it isn't 1985 anymore. The world has long moved on, yet we are still stuck with ideas from our ancestors time.

The money their states have been getting plus the 13% oil whatever allocations, plus the ones the oil companies have been paying directly to the government there, what have they been doing with it? All they do is shout oil money when they see other regions spending money... They've not asked their own governors what they've been doing with their money

At least indigenes of Kano state basically attend university for free and you can bet they will all get jobs. How much is school fees in LASU, IMSU for indigenes?
