yemkoguru:how did you calculate 5.5km/Ltr? |

yemkoguru:It's a 15+ year old 6 cylinder engine running on low quality PMS with ageing parts and considerable mileage. 13 miles per gallon is not great but fair.

fineboynl:I believe you can view the average fuel consumption under the speedometer display. |

yemkoguru:Have it checked by a competent mech...It's not normal for it to burn so much fuel unless you do extremely short journeys frequently.. Like less than 10 miles each... I recently had an 03 Accord v6 and I was getting 24mpg highway steady, 16mpg city, and 10mpg if I drove frequently for less than 3 miles at a go... One time I was driving less than a mile to and fro from work during the rainy season, I was running at maybe 5 miles per gallon ![]() Binding brakes, direct fan connection, dead O2 and/or MAF SENSORS, among others can cause bad fuel economy....and weather too.. The colder the weather, the more fuel the engine needs to warm up. No matter the age of your vehicle, as long as the engine hasn't lost compression and the fuel management system is intact, it should give you the factory mpg or close to it under normal driving conditions, other things being equal.. You can't be doing 3 mile trips and expect even 10mpg. Anothe thing is make sure you are getting your money' s worth of the fuel you buy...Filling Stations are the new MMM these days.. The more you look, the less you see ...make e no be say you are getting less fuel than stated at the filling station pump, but you are blaming the innocent vehicle.Lastly, if you have installed rims and tyres bigger than the factory recommended ones, your fuel economy will take a hit... I don't have the energy to explain the science behind it.. But it's what it is. |
