Nigeria has suffered terribly in the hands of her leaders. With enormous human and natural resources, Nigeria should be competing with the best countries in the world. Sadly, that is not the case. The leadership have systematically created a pipe and channel through which Nigeria's resources are endlessly diverted to personal purse of the leadership over the decades
It became worst from 1999 where the leaders treat the country's resources as personal property to deploy, use and squander as they wish.

However, in the midst of these maladministration, impunity rogueish and thieving politicians, there are/were few who stood out with sincerity of purpose to creating a better society for all.

There are number of them but i will pick the best three among them. These three were leaders who tried their best to changing the horrible system they met on assumption of office with sincerity of purpose.

I will state them from bottom to top

1 Yaradua two term governor of Katsina and later president of the federal Republic of Nigeria is in 3rd position

Obasanjo during his presidency allowed the faceless cabals who incidentally brought him to power decide the pace of his governance. I remembered buying bag of cement - elephant cement, Ibeto cement #270 for those who were already adults in 1999.
The same year, Obasanjo under the directive of the cabals, banned importation of cement granting Dangote monopoly over the cement industry in the guise he produces locally but we all know he ended up importing to meet demand. By year 2000 cement is gone up to #950, #1000 and by 2007 cement was already #2000plus

Yaradua on assumption of office immediately stood down the ban on importation and players like Ibeto came onboard and the price of cement crashed to #1400 and keot going down before Yaradua's sudden demise.
This he achieved among other popular benefitting polices

2 Peter Obi two term governor of Anambra state is in 2nd position

Before Obi became governor, Anambra was in a sorry state. When Anambra was sharing same state with Enugu, all the money made from Onitsha main-market and other Anambra resources were used to develop the capital which is Enugu town. At the creation of Enugu state out of Anambra, in 1991, Anambra was bedevilled with sustained bad leadership managed by godfathers who took turn to install their stooge. It was in 2003 during the time of Ngige that Anambra started seeing slight development like constructing roads for the first time. Ngige's administration ended within three years because he was governing under a stolen mandate.

Peter Obi came in 2006 after the court declared him winner. He didnt waste time in setting Anambra on the path of sustainable progress it has remained today
Anambra was literally last and worst in everything - Education, Health, Security, Economy, Infrastructure. By 2008-2009 Anambra became first in almost all the stats mentioned.
Peter Obi didnt concentrate in the capital like most leaders do/did. He opened up numerous projects in all the communities in Anambra and turned almost every community in Anambra into township that Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi were decongested.
He built road networks that opened up remote villages linking them to one anither.
His achievement in Education, Health etc are unparalled.

He ended his eight year governance by handing over cash of 75b naira to his successor among so many other investments.

3 M.I Opkara was the leader of NCNC and Premier of eastern Nigeria 1959-1966 and in 1st position

By 1964 5years into Okpara's ascendency into the premiership, Eastern Nigeria as recorded by a Research group in Michigan state University in the US . Eastern Nigeria was the fastest growing and industrializing economy in the world - ahead of Malaysia, Taiwan, Korea, Singapore.

You can read up how he achieved that. Its in public dormain

None is better... None is worse... Hindsight is 20/20...
After dem don go we go begin praise them, but while in power things was difficult for the common man...
Na so Obasanjo was president, shey simcard was 10k plus, fuel 65 naira...
Now Tinubu be president, simcard 5h, while fuel na 700 naira....
So none is good, none was also bad

it doesnt have to be a national leader like the president. We must recognise even if it is a local government chairperson who gave extraordinary/selfless leadership
