What a big loss to the entire world of Accounting. We still celebrated his 104th birthday last month or so on all ICAN social media platforms. So sad his beautiful and eventful life has come to an end. He pioneered the professionalization of the Accounting profession in Africa by becoming the first African to qualify as a Chartered Accountant in 1949. All of us in the Accounting profession will really miss him.

Just have to go look up for the picture of his last birthday celebration.

Pa Akintola Williams was the one with Chief Ogunbanjo and other professionals who used their professional licenses to set it up Lagos Stock Exchange Limited.

While Pa Williams was a Chartered Accountant, Pa Ogunbanjo is a Lawyer. Pa Ogunbanjo is still alive and one of his sons was the immediate past Chairman of the Nigeria Stock Exchange.

What made you think it's Sir Ojukwu, who was a successful trader and not professional, is because they made him the ceremonial Chairman.

The real profesionals like Pa Akintola are the real owners, CEO and key managers in charge of the operations. It's like the way the Obi of Onitsha was made the chairman of GTBank but you know the bank is owned majorly by the Agbajes, Adeolas and the Aderiokun families.

Late Tayo Aderiokun and Fola Adeola are the professionals who own and registered GTBank with their professional licenses while Pa Agbaje, father of current Group CEO provided funds until his son was ripe enough to take his father's turn as CEO while Obi of Onitsha remains Chairman
