Lagos is in Yorubaland, so it is normal to use Yoruba language in addressing the people.

You can go back to your land of you are not comfortable with that.

Apparently that's a step in right direction. After or before or either way, English and Yoruba are official languages of Lagos. To thrive as a business person from other divide living life on the streets of lagos knowledge of Yoruba is essential.

I actually agree with Lagos Assembly on the use of Yoruba.

By the time market women start using it to come to island every day, it will be helpful for the old men and women to understand the instructions.
The train is not meant for old people because their is no lift or elevator to help them get to the station.

Nigeria my country. Must we attach tribal sentiment to everything? Instead of initiating good policies and programs that will transform the lives of the local people, they are going after less important issues.
Yoruba language is important to us if your own language isn't. Go tell Chinese, German, Russians, Indians and the French that their language is less important.

I'm not against using Yoruba as part of the train public announcements but the way some 'ronu advocates' are pushing this agenda of 'Yoruba first' in everything (for a supposed 'Cosmopolitan City) will at the long run harm the innocent Omoluabis who wish to live in harmony with other nationalities from the country and across the world angry
Go to China and tell them it’s a world class country and they should add French or Spanish to their publicly used languages.

We know the tribe that sowed the seed of ethnic, tribal and religious bigotry in Nigeria.

Only a demented, tribalistic, lowlife BIGOT would support and vote for a colossal crisis like the Ebola drug who's a recognized criminal locally and internationally.

Look at this slowpoke. What is tribal sentiment in people promoting their culture and language? Is China speaking other people's language in their land or Spain? If u have lost your identity, why not allow people hold on to theirs. What is your headache?

CREATING HIGH TENSION AND XENOPHOBIA.

WE HAVE SEEN HOW PEOPLE OF OTHER TRIBES WERE KILLED IN LAGOS DURING THE LAST ELECTION.
Yoruba people speaking Yoruba language in Yorubaland does NOT affect you or other tribes in any ways.

Nothing will harm yoruba in the long for advocating its language in their domain and outside their domain.

It has always paid off.

It will not be bad if the whole west Africa start using yoruba as an official language. Technology and development starts from there.

A state in the North not long ago pass it to law for them to use hausa in the assembly.

Yorubas have been sleeping no more now.
Anyone who does want learn yoruba should not come to Lagos or any southwest state.

That's brilliant... Yoruba is an international language spoken in Cuba, Brazil, etc. This is not negotiable. Yoruba and English will co-exist for daily official and private convos regionally. Period.

The Hausa folks don't joke with their language which is international too.

Thank you Lamata, please let’s take it to primary and secondary schools - Implement the control

I would appreciate if Fashola can make it public voluntary service to speak to Young Nigerians “Yoruba” once every month. It will go a long way to motivate the next Generation.

One thing I love about the Yorubas and Hausas is their love for their language.
Most Igbos don't value the language, many even scold their children for speaking the language and its very laughable.
How can one think his language is inferior? You are teaching your children/wards English while yours is fading into oblivion and you have no problem with that.
Over 70% of the Igbos can't converse in the language for 5 minutes without 'and, the, but, guy, and a whole lot of others' but a Yoruba can speak for hours without any trace of 'but, and'.
Sụọ asụsụ Igbo, Igbo amaka!
Well said! You are rational and very wise among your ethnic kinsmen here on and off NL who have relentlessly shown the worse kinds of toxicity and hate speech online.

Yes, speaking English is a sign of Education. The Chinese are also uneducated since they don't speak English. Olodo rabata.
