Step1: on the lower branch of the tree:

Add the first and last number.

Step 2: divide the number by any of the options - top branch - that can give you a whole number at the middle of the lower branch.

Let's use sample 2 as an example.

5 + 4 = 9

9/3 = 3.

Sample 1

2 + 4 = 6

6/2 = 3

I actually solved this differently but apparently it is the same answer.

The (top x middle) - right = left

Eg second example

(3x3) - 4 = 5

First example
(2x3) - 2 = 4
