All this was a calculated move to make the North masters of Nigeria. In retaliation, Ojukwu declared the Eastern Region Biafra, and a civil war followed

After the civil war, Nigeria had a period of huge oil sales that were wasted on white elephant projects and corruption

Murtala Mohammed ended Gowons 9 year rule and increased Nigerias unitary rule by increasing the number of States in Nigeria to 19. Five more coups would follow with each military ruler embarking on state creation, started by Gowon, until we got to 36.

Today, Nigeria is world poverty capital, 8th most insecure country on earth, and one of the most corrupt.

Nigeria has never known good times, but its best times were Zik and Ironsi times.
