How can you post the comment reproduced below and then respond with the above comment? How? Hypocrisy or what? If the argument is not necessary, why make the comment below? A particular ethnic group have been claiming sole ownership of Nollywood for some years now. Some years back, they even claimed Yoruba movies are not part of Nollywood in order to maintain their self acclaimed ownership of the industry. Now that the records are being set straight, you now think it’s not necessary even when comment is suggesting otherwise? Madam, Beremx must be another name for hypocrisy.
Seun, there's nothing hypocritical about my comment. You're fond of twisting my comment to suit your narrative. You want to always drag me into Igbo-Yoruba feud which I try as much to avoid. Please I beg you in the name of whatever you worship, don't quote me next time if you intend to continue this trend with my comments.

Have a blessed new week

You saying it does not make it true. You're not a child, we were all here when Living in bandage came out. Before then, nothing like home videos per se
FreeStuffsNG:
He is speaking from both sides of the mouth. That's the problem with lying; you say one lie and you need another lie to cover it.

How can Igbo man be producing Yoruba films and sell? Smh

And how he conveniently avoided telling his audience about the successful home Yoruba videos released well before 1991 is best known to him.

Yoruba started and own Nollywood. QED

Before all you dunces start cursing yourselves as usual, know the details of what kanayo is saying even though he doesn't know why.
Everything had to do with change in technology. Yoruba started theatre and films as early as 1940's but they have to manually take their productions to cinema houses after performing in theatre houses.
Then in the 1980's, vhs technology became widespread and ibos heavily invested their film production in it, which had more reach, less stress and more profit, but yoruba movie producers did not a change their cinematic approach much. this is the period where bollywood, nollywood etcwood were formed to copy the concept of hollywood.
Recently online cinema's like netflix, which is a far more viral came up and the yorubas who are used to cinemas to sell their films were more positioned to take advantage of it.

You cannot co.prehend a small writeup? He said yorubas were producing films for theartre only but people were not buying them to watch at home. Home videos started with living in bondage
Throwback:
Atleast he admitted Yorubas had begun producing and selling home videos before living in bandage.

Is there anything like Home video now or cassette video or even VCD? Yet the movie industry is still called Nollywood.

So obviously what matters is the production and not the means of distribution.

We know whose movies dominate the cinema circuit in Nigeria.

Drama is part of Yoruba culture.

Quite contradictory. So you all accept that Yorubas have been making movies even though without commercial success before living in bondage was produced. So, what’s the argument about again?

Yorubas started both theater and home movie production. Igbos took over at some point and expanded the scope. Today, it’s an equal field for everyone with Yorubas taking the shine with blockbuster after blockbuster in the last 5 years.
.....without commercial success & appeal

See as you pin mouth for Lagos as if that is all you have in life! If dem leave you now, you go lie say na Yorubas first bring electricity for Nigeria in Lagos, na dem build the first railway lines, the first general hospital, the Iju water works etc when there is documented history that they were all done by the BRITISH!

Gather liver compare Osun state to Imo state, not using Lagos that was developed with the national wealth and human capital resources of all the tribes in Nigeria.

Why Ekiti state no be like Lagos?
Did they tell you that the British brought their money from Europe to build Lagos?
If your region was that productive and prosperous, they would have equally developed them like did in Lagos.
British made their money in Lagos and used part of the profit to build Lagos.

Inferiority complex is what most of people from your region is suffering from, don't ever compare the Great Igbos with useless tribe, you couldn't even defeat Fulanis talk less of other south south regions, your people is the reason why Nigeria is not progressing, Igbos is your father and will never measure up to the Great Igbos, you will always be second fiddle. Yoruba men are very good with big ass and boobs like Bob Risky ..... A won Oponus grin grin grin
Re: Nigerians Were Not Buying Nollywood Films When Yoruba Was Incharge. Kanayo Kanay by plaindealer: 1:50am On Sep 25, 2023
So, let's get it straight, Yoruba people started Nollywood and Ibo people came to make it better with one bondage rubbish movie, then sidon on the sideline while Yoruba people returned to take over and dominate Nollywood.

This ipob is actually celebrating their own incompetence and acknowledging the fact that Yoruba people started Nollywood and Yoruba people are still in charge and ibo people only show face with one yeye ibo bondage movie.

I don't know why it's always hard and difficult for these people to make sense, they just walk on their own brains.

Living in Bondage started the business in Nollywood. If Yoruba movies existed before then, most people were not aware because most Nigerians were interested in Indian and American movies
You and Kanayo are 100% correct, I remember that the first Nigeria film my dad bought on the day he bought our coloured tv and vedio was living in bondage, come and see how our whole parlor was flooded with people including those that were at the window watching both Yoruba were running to our house to watch it. Anyone that denial this must be a big liar.
