Yes indeed.

There is a entire bureaucracy with people getting paid big money to do what OP is doing free of charge ...but we haven't seen or heard much from them apart from a few statements here and there. undecided

Our govt officials are often times trying to mislead us or even lead us to harm.

We need to realise that we can only rely on ourselves.

If your state is down stream of River Benue and River Niger e,g. most SE states and SS states, you should already know that whatever flood that happens in the upstream states would flow down to you and is likely to be multiple times worse.

You should view prediction of floods or heavy rainfall in Adamawa and Taraba and Niger states as an early warning signal to evacuate and move to a safe and higher land. In an emergency identify multi storey buildings you can rush to and or bridges to run to if unable to escape to higher ground.
Re: Nigeria Flood Watch by worksmart(op): 4:43pm On Sep 30, 2023
Start to pack emergency bags to carry evacuate especially if you in flood prone zones of SS and SE.

Thunderstorms in Adamawa and Taraba should be taken as a flood warning alert to all states downstream of River Benue and River Niger.

3-Day Weather Forecast is predicting 3- solid days of heavy rain and thunderstorms this would like trigger Cameroons Lagdo Dam to increase flow rate of water evacuation
Re: Nigeria Flood Watch by worksmart(op): 2:29pm On Oct 01, 2023
The 3-days of thunderstorms predicted is indication to expect massive flooding especially in flood prone downstream states like Kogi, Delta Anambra, Imo, Abia Bayelsa.

@OP I thought they were asked to relocate to safer areas.. why wait till doomsday?
Re: Nigeria Flood Watch by worksmart(op):
Easier said than done . In this hardship economy, what exactly does relocation mean?
Govt has to assist evacuate people alternative temporary shelter and help secure their properties and livelihoods.

Flash floods occur within a few minutes or hours of excessive rainfall, a dam or levee failure, or a sudden release of water

Water rises rapidly over low areas, changing an idyllic stream or creek into a violent, raging river. Flash floods generally develop within six hours after slow-moving thunderstorms pass through an area. They may also result from debris jams, and levee or dam failure.

Flooding may occur far from where heavy rain initially fell.

A flash flood can even happen in areas where it never rained at all.
