In contrast to recent blog reports, popular musician Azeez Adeshina Fashola, widely known as Naira Marley, was not apprehended by Nigerian authorities upon his arrival in the country. Instead, he voluntarily surrendered himself at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to assist in the investigation of his former protege, Mohbad’s, untimely demise.

Naira Marley had previously taken to his social media platforms to declare his intent to return to Nigeria and cooperate with the police in their inquiries into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s tragic passing.
The singer arrived Nigeria on the 3rd of October, 2023. Upon his arrival, the singer took to social media to announce his arrival and his willing to assist the authorities in the ongoing investigation. Naira Marley stated, “I’d like to share that I’ve just arrived back in Lagos, Nigeria to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation. It’s important I do my part for Imole. I’ll be meeting with the police with hopes for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to prevail.”
