So I went to barb yesterday and the guy just sprayed spirit on the clipper to sterilize it.

I asked him to use lighter to burn it so that it sterilize well, but he said no need, only spirit or fuel alone is okay.

I insisted, till he had to go out and get lighter.

Did I over react?

Does spirit or fuel alone cleans clipper or I need to burn it with lighter?

Insist on lighter/fire all the time or buy your personal clipper. Never trust whatever spirit they use because you don't know if it's imitatation or expired.

It's not by degrees oga.. Methylated spirit is more effective in killing germs on surfaces than that lighter. Simple!

What criteria makes it so. I thought even viruses cannot survive beyond certain heat levels

Methylated Spirits .... gasoline... kerosene ... rubbing alcohol.... hand sanitizer...... any one will sterilize the clipper better than lighter. Will get rid of bacteria and viruses... lice or their eggs ... and whatever may be on the clipper.

Wow... If this is the case, it means I was over-reacting. I thought the best practice is to apply the methylated spirit and use lighter to burn it out from the clipper blades
