It is stupidity to expect inflation to drop when petrol that powers the economy is sold at 620 naira per litre.

By words of mouth?

The only governor till date who governed a state without borrowing a single penny, the first governor who brought in Fortune 500 companies to anambra, the second largest brewery in the world including one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the world among others, Innoson cars came to existence, onitsha regained its place as the biggest market in west africa. You can sit and google Peter Obi, without sentiments, or place of hate. Just 10 mins. You would know a man who chaired 3 banks, SEC, built successful businesses, and companies in the Europe, and Africa, to a man who only did accountancy for only 2 years with mobil as a graduate entry. His only experience was 2 years, lagos most talk about revenue was TAX he widened base on lagos was already a commercial hub.

Move the country from consumption to production - Peter Obi
Very hard considering those at the seat of power. They don't know how to produce. Only how to consume.

No sir. It’s not by word of mouth. During his campaign,Peter Obi laid an economic road map with proven facts and figures garnered from other developing economies in Africa, Southeast Asia, Far East and other countries to show that it can be achieved.
Like him or hate him, these are facts.

Facts about a hypocritical balablu man of zero character and nonexistent integrity

Thankfully he failed miserably in his attempt to scam us. Thankfully so.

“’I cannot take anything back about Obi. I said Obi said he wants to move Nigeria back from consumption to production and I said that is not true. He cannot do it because his own business survives on consumption. Is that a lie? He has been an importer and I said he deals with cash and carry economics; container economics, imports”.

“All the goods that can be produced in Nigeria, Obi imports them in his supermarkets. That is consumption economics. That kind of person cannot tell you that he is moving you from consumption to production. He will then be committing self-economic suicide and Obi will not do that to himself”.

“So, Obi is deceiving everybody and I can’t take that back because that is true. What I said about Asiwaju, I gave examples of his vision, knowledge and courage. There is none about Obi. You can’t point to any enduring legacy of Obi in his eight years as governor of Anambra”.

Oduduwpigs you see una life?. Druggie spent above $500,000 to attend the last summit, staying in hotel and not in Nigerian presidential lodge. His son is in errant wasteful mission, using presidential jet to tour around, wasting aviation fuel with maintenance fee.

New vehicles worth millions of dollars is purchased.

HE Obi Peter would not have done that

How come a currency that had been relatively stable suddenly become a fallen winter leaf?

Tinubu fire brigade's approach to the problems. He unified the currency without assessing why the previous government had multiple currency windows. Buhari/Emifele didn't have the FX funds to defend the Naira. The economy has no liquidity due to the ongoing oil swaps with foreign refineries. Instead of selling crude oil for FX , Nigeria swapped crude oil for refined oil.

All these are fire brigade short-cut measures to treat symptoms of a collapsing economy.

We must go back to the basics - fight corruption & insecurity, provide stable power and other stimulants to boost local production, industry & agriculture.

You hit the nail on the head, and in addition, cut wasteful spendings.

Just imagine the money thatbis about to be wasted for purchasing brand new latest Lexus Jeeps for the new 469 lawmakers at the National Assembly. And remember, it's our hard-earned Foreign Exchange that will be used to purchase the vehilces.

It's barely 4 years that the same set of vehicles were purchased for the 9th Assembly laemakers, but those vehicles have now been auctioned (dashed) to lucky winners with connection.

I doubt if the almighty Briton wr look up to purchases vehicle for every set of laemakers, after every election year.

You are very right. Still short term measures need to be taken to put the economy in order while planning on the long term measures. Viagra was produced for a reason not for cure of PE.

Refeneries are not working, ajaokuta steel company is not working..all moribund... these are national assets that can generate a lot of dollars, foreign currencies into nigeria and boost the economy, strengthened the naira and make it have value, create jobs for youths and nigerians ...but our leaders and politcians do not care about them but just to be collecting loans ...this world bank and IMF had made our leaders and politcians lazy and lose focus on the right things to do

They said he was city boy, that he invented Lagos. Some even say he thought of, built, and commissioned the university of Chicago.

it is clear that his leadership cannot see oga jakande shoe. levels dey. Jakande still remains the king of Lagos, others, not the tribalist criminal, have come close, but no leadership surpassing yet.

He is in his own way. If he is not thinking corruption, he is thinking divisiveness among tribe and religion. A useless criminal.

High cost of governance + corruption by the political class is responsible for the bad state of the Nigeria economy which has grown worse over time.

Nigeria should depending principally on crude oil and gas.

These minerals are not enough to see Nigeria through this hard times.

The problem is corruption .... mismanagement and lack of production to earn foreign exchange to offset importation and build foreign reserves. Bear in mind ... up to 2015 ... money was tolling in from oil ... .money that was being squandered ... stolen. . shipped out but almost enough to keep the Naira stable. As the shortfalls grew greater ... the Naira began to slip. Now.the IMF is commending the move to lift the ban on foreign exchange for cement.... poultry and poultry products .... and rice among 43 items. How can this help us? ... this is back to importing what we can produce .... flooding the market with xheap questionable goods ... putting local products out of business and drying up the already scarce foreign exchange. The IMF will then be waiting to give us a loan with draconion conditions.
