If the NLC had stood firm, insisting on implementation before calling off the threatened industrial action, the agreed-upon demands would have already been put into effect. However, the NLC chose to place their trust in a government known for its unreliability. Gbajabiamila assured ASUU that their demands would be addressed, urging them to end the strike. Unfortunately, a beleaguered ASUU, further burdened by the NIC ruling and Falana’s counsel chose the path that has now caused a significant decline in support from ASUU members for future possible industrial actions. The issues that prompted the strike remain unresolved. The union's top priority now is to seek the release of withheld salaries. This situation highlights that involving the judiciary does not necessarily signal government goodwill in negotiations. The NLC have probably shot themselves in the leg with all they agreed as to the course of action with respect to the purported agreement. ASUU had many agreements too. None brought to fruition. It may become necessary to exercise your power to bring the country to a standstill, compelling NIC, an arm of the government, to reckon with you. In certain cases, civil disobedience may be the only recourse. |

who takes this clowns seriously. I only pity the civil servants who think NLC is interested in Thier well being. They will threaten to strike and on the eve of commencement they will start praising the government after collecting brown envelopes. Why is labour not talking about our moribund refinaries. Must it be about minimum wage all the time. What percentage of the citizens are civil servants and how do they expect states who couldn't pay old minimum wage comply with yet another increase. I think it's time we start asking these guys serious questions. |

othermen:I agree but it's not too late they have a very valid reason to go on strike if indeed the FG is not keeping to an agreement signed by both parties , Mc Oluomo cannot take over Nurtw national office , only NLC and TUC can stop that rubbish . |
