Not a fan of Peter Mbah but he's now off to a good start in security and infrastructure, the initiative to bring a CP who is an Igbo man and indigene of 042 to oversee the security architecture of Enugu seems to have paid off, Enugu from what I'm hearing is now a booming construction zone.

We've gotten it right with Abia, Enugu, the Ebonyi governor is also making giant strides quietly, Soludo has split opinions but he's largely alright so far, it remains Imo state and I know the forces against Uzodinma are greater than him, I trust Ndi Imo to get it right.

You can’t be a governor with a mentality like this, build high rise and power it with what when electricity is out, have you considered the cost of gas? You guys would just be talking like ronu people how many firms would be able to rent such high rise if there Would be no elevator and if it includes elevator what’s the cost of running it, the new city is proposed to have its own power plant, wait till then, it doesn’t make economic sense to build high rise in Enugu with the unstable light unless if there’s dedicated power plant

This debate has happened before in the past on nairaland. It is very possible to build a high rise that has an elevator or lifter independently powered by solar panels and battery storage. It will work with or without external power.

If you build and dedicate solar and battery storage just for elevator. It can work.

The ones in Lagos, Abuja, few in PH how do they power their elevators? I personally saw functional elevator inside Polo Park Mall Enugu with my koro koro eyes.
I think our governors run away from erecting high rise due to cost of pile foundation

After giving the city skyline a new look, would the new look make up for the cost of running the skyscrapers

Do you know how much it will cost to install solar panels capable of running an elevator 247, you guys shouldn’t dabble into things you are clueless about, who pays for such installation. Go to the new secretariat where they do nin, people coming to do nin contribute to buy petrol for a generator set, how much more powering a lift and an entire skyscraper

People like you finding themselves in position of leadership is why Nigeria is the way it is, what is the economic assessment of such skyscrapers when power isn’t constant you can’t answer that yet you want to dumb billions of naira in a project you can’t defend yet millions have not been able to eat proper meal in the state and instead of investing such money in agriculture you want to start a skyscraper when effective mechanism for running such structure isn’t feasible. just somehow.

Any building of at least 10 floors needs an elevator and special foundation. It will take at least 6 months to be completed and would take at least 500 million. It is simply just a building, with 500 Millon, do you know how many hectares of land you would be able to cultivate ? Nobody is against highrise or skyscrapers, the issue is that it this point it is premature and the people are poor and hungry, food security, working health system and security is more important than high rise, if the 3 to 7 story we build without lift is not high rise enough, then relocate for now

The solar power installed in my house carries two refrigerators and a deep freezer plus other appliances. Infact I haven’t used generator in 7 months. This is a whole house with 5 bedrooms. Now imagine all that energy dedicated to an elevator only. I hope you get the gist.

Peasantry mentality
What I see is a misplaced priority, you can’t have abundant mentality when a greater majority of your population is living in abject poverty

Nice! Though i think there’s a need to start thinking of how to build clusters of high-rise apartments…about 10 to 15 stories high. This will lead to a more effective use of available land.

That’s the goal of the new city being planned for Enugu. It will have high rises.
