Brilliant development

This is how development works.. You don't build what is not needed.

@me
So rail transport is not needed? Check the amount of revenue generated by the lagos-Ibadan rail line within few months of commissioning.
Lagos to ibadan is not maximized.
It's solely used for passenger transport

The passenger transport is limited because it makes no economic sense

You are time limited compared to bus
More expensive compared to bus

Only people who normally fly would find it attractive... And those are the numbers you need to improve first

Those who studied medicine by paying less than $100 a year for medical education in Nigeria and now earning over $250,000 a year in the western world were NEVER built by Nigeria?
Those who studied engineering and other courses paying the same amount and are all over the world contributing meaningfully were never built by Nigeria?
Those who were eating full chicken for lunch as students at UNILAG, UI, Ife, Nsukka & Zaria in their days while paying practically nothing were built by which country?

We dropped the ball big time. No excuse. We let selfishness rule and we gradually allowed our space to be dominated by people of weak value system but to say Nigeria has never built its people is not true.

Meanwhile it is America and UK that Nigerians worship and suck up to. What have the Americans and British done in Nigeria? In life, Know your true friends by those who will invest in your prosperity in your dreams and not those who give you handouts and entrench dependency.
America and UK are only good at giving aids and returning stolen loot , they offer absolutely nothing to the development of 3rd world countries.

Speak for yourself sir. The train works very well for me and thousands of people. The question is if you have personally ever boarded any of the trains? Are your comments factual or just stuff you manufactured in your head for argument sake? How can you say the train is used by those who normally fly? Really?? Regular people are using the trains because of other factors that also affect their pocket. The roads are unpredictable for several reasons including erratic drivers and other road users and you may end up spending more money!

I have used Lagos-Abeokuta-Ibadan train several times. It makes perfect sense to me. I know exactly when my train takes off and I know when it arrives at the destination so I make my business plans around that. Also, they are not limited to the current time schedule as they will increase these in due course. What is important is that they have started this important service and they are doing very well.

I have not boreded the train their revenue statement is enough to make my assumptions

The cost is online
Lagos to Ibadan bus price is online

I have all the data I need

Do you even know what it means to build people? If you don't know ask

Less than 3 million Nigerians have gone for NYSC

My school UNN he admitted just 200k plus people and it's both the oldest and one of the highest admission capacity in Nigeria

If you want to know what it means to build people ask

Development shouldn't(is) not given but done by those who need them. What I mean is that each region should be allowed to control it's resources and develop accordingly. A northerner, Westerner shouldn't decide for other regions and vice versa.
Nigeria should return to true Federalism!

Igboslayer:
Hahahahahaha, when you sought out your Biafra madness first, then development will come. South South is getting attention already the Ajaokuta railroad to Aladja has been completed too.

We gave you a new Niger bridge, the biggest bridge ever constructed across the Niger. Una need some sense for that region and some resetting slap every morning.

Human capital development or rather human development is the first step like you said. You couldn't have said it better my guy!

mrvitalis:
APC is actually doing development upside down really there problem is fundamental

You build the people then infrastructure follows not build infrastructure first

If you build infrastructure first what would happen is the people would be too poor to patronize those infrastructure which would make them to be subsidized and would make maintenance difficult causing the infrastructure to fail.... Sounds familiar?

Step one raise revenue ( natural resources, borrow, tax anyhow)

Step two invest in your people ( education, soft credit, access to machinery, access to advanced tools , improved seedlings, simplified and low interest loans easily accessible etc)

Step three, your people grow rich start demanding infrastructure they know they can afford... Then you tax the and build infrastructure

This is how development works.. You don't build what is not needed

You don't look at the profitability but overall economic effects.
I've said and argued it here before that 99% of trains constructed in the whole world doesn't recover their profit.
That's why most time no private entity engage in train construction but it's usually due to government loans and intervention.

Train profitability is not looked on the myopic lens of direct profit NO, but on the overall effect on transit efficiency, better bulk movement of goods, crude, gas, steel. Opening up of free trade zones around different districts etc
you are right
but if i have money i wish to go into train lagos to ibadan berger to iwo road

Moving goods or people?
How profitable will it be?
You're not a government so indirect profit via tax won't get to your pocket

..

Still isn't fully maximized. The whole Lagos-Ibadan stretch should be having dozens of industrial cluster springing up.
Agricultural estates, warehouses and storage facilities for easy transport close to the rail corridor.

True that's why I advocate that if Nigeria should be rebuilding their rail networks the focus shouldn't be on passenger but on movement of heavy cargoes. Moving crude, gas, steel metals, heavy machinery, solid minerals (which can be transported to the port (for easy export) or to major cities to help fasten mega infrastructure development to 1st world standards.
Building skyscrapers, bridges, mega roads requires tons of steel and solid minerals that we need to transport enbulk.

Also development of industrial clusters, free zones around this railway corridors in major regions around the country.

In the NW/NC... Agricultural zones for processing and easy transport to any city in nigeria or if you're export oriented, to the port.

In NC (Kogi, ajaokuta,) solid mineral industrial zones for easy transport of steel, cement, granite for infrastructure revolution.

In SW (ogun/ondo) solid mineral, bitumen, agriculture.

In SE...(imo/enugu) LNG transport, coal,
Aba_cheap garment, shoes, cloths for easy export (Bangladesh model) for easy transport to export terminal.

SS... Crude and refinary cluster of industries that their product can easily be transported around Nigeria.

With this you don't only have to build your industry close to the port for easy export you can build anywhere in nigeria along the rail corridors.

Taxing all this multiple industrial clusters will recoup ×100 whatever you spend on building.
Passenger transport will just be a plus.

Do this and watch Nigeria GDP skyrocket
