Crap the naira will keep on falling, if we like let's borrow $100bn...close the CBN I&E window, let everyone trade on the rate of the black market, let the naira float truly, the Naira will appreciate, the more will have that window the more some people rill take advantage of it no matter which policy is in place, how do you term Dangote buying $ at official rate to go and invest in other African countries and make more money, his proceeds from those investment will hardly come back into Nigerian economy but Swiss banks or offshore accounts, I can't blame him, if am in his shoes I will do the same thing, it's simply business, but if Emeka or Chukwudi wan open spare part shop for Burkina Faso.. He has to go and buy at the black market rate for him to do by his business there.. Is that fair? Are they both not Nigerians? Burns boy come dey talk say Dangote no get two heads.. Abegi him get over 2 heads sef. Close the official market rate let the naira float truly the economy will stabilize with d naira.. Not doing thar we are going Zimbabwe, Italy with lira, Argentina and Zimbabwe way.. Our case will he worse because of our population.. Please if you can japa please go.. Its not looking good for now to be in Nigeria. |

Kachidubem:$50 ? I save on BTC... The more this country collapse, the more i smile. You can't install failure, bring disaster and expect everyone to follow you like zombie. Some of us have learnt to survive irrespective of the environment. While you're living in delusion of a better naira under the most corrupt government, i am busy exploring the opportunities available from a disaster. |

babamadiba:Nobody was praying for it. It's inevitable. The temporary injection of dollars to increase supply cannot be sustained by a broke government. It's not different from the Naira subsidy. Once the injection stops, dollar goes up again |

Kachidubem:Oga even Dangote and members of Tinubu's family and government prefer to save their wealth in dollars. Don't be the fool, Naira is very unstable and unreliable. It's stupid to store wealth in a fluctuating currency. Dangote refinery would not change anything. |
| Re: Naira Crashes To 1,030/$ As Speculators React by Reference(m): 12:45pm On Nov 07, 2023 |
Patriotsleague:But the government devalued the currency without 'prayers', what is the difference. Everyone had agreed that the naira was overvalued (i.e too high is proportion compared to productivity, relative or otherwise). Most of you folks just do not know what you want. You are just caught up between politicking and reality. Don't know whether you want right sizing of the local currency and a fix of the economy or 'feel good'...... aka sentiment. Like a sick patient who wants to be treated but hides the fact so that his strongman persona remains intact. I personally do not care about the value of the naira viz the dollar. My concern is about inflation and with good governance both issues can be separated and should be separate issues. You can have a weak currency of exchange and a growing, strong economy if the right things are done. So abeg go and study the subject a bit more before casting aspersions on what the doctor ordered. |

I have observed that dollar will rise like 100 to 300 naira and then drop like like 50 to 150 after some time it will rise again e.g rise from 700 to 1000 drop to 900 after some times mayb 3 months interval rise to 1,300 then drop to 1200 the cycles continues just my observation |

How many times can this make-believe president do a bailout, with money that Nigeria doesn't have, especially when most of that money is being used to purchase 5B Naira yacht and other such frivolities? To all you Tinubu supporters, may you and your wards continue eating sand for eight more years. |

I will keep milking whatever I can, whenever I can...even in the disaster, I will keep seizing every opportunity I see/sight. Let the patriots keep up with their patriotism. I'll follow the money and trends instead. 💯 |

Sorry but you're actually the biggest fool in this room How will banks get the supply of dollars and remit to the companies people place such orders with. Don't u know companies that came to Nigeria as foreign investors still pending backlog for their remitance. Reason evades you that people will place orders for subsidized iphones, tourism & luxury goods because there is cheap dollar rate. That is why cbn scrutinize business applications for official rate to make sure it only goes to productive purchases. Idiot talking about every economist knows... to allow unrestricted capital flight? to subsidize consumption of foreign goods? Maybe you should understand the problem before you talk about simple ABC. BRATISLAVA:Stockholm syndrome I guess. Cos I don't get how they would believe a loan would solve the underlying problem of scarcity. USD is scarce because we aren't earning enough of it. A loan just kicks the can of worms down the road. Dollar is still going to to depreciate to ₦1300 in a matter of months loan or not. What even infuriates me is that they took a loan for consumption! To buy cars and all other kinds of consumption for themselves. And some e-rats are running loose celebrating the "economic genius" of a Tribulation. |
