But it is either Buhari or Tinubu they will blame if things are not working out. Truth is, government starts from the grass roots. The councillor, the local government chairman, the house of assembly members, the commissioners and governors up to the President. The governors are in most cases exonerated and blames pushed to the President. The governors want to hold on to every kobo that enters the government coffers. Give Legislators autonomy, Mba! Give local governments autonomy, Mba! Judiciary nko? Mba! They want to control everything and everyone. How can a state like Bayelsa that collects one of the highest federal allocation pay their workers less than the approved minimum wage? Give those legislators financial autonomy and see if governors can behave stupidly. Like Ameachi rightly said, because we don't stone them that's why they behave the way they do. My comment may not necessarily be in connection with the post but something to reflect about. |

There is nothing money cannot buy. The corrupt governors know that if there is autonomy of state government, they won't be able to control the state financial power. Take for instance the incapacitated governor of Ondo state. He is carrying out is responsibilities right from Ibadan and the state legislature couldn't do anything about it. We still have a long way to go in this country. The system needs to change completely. |

Most Nigerian states aren't profitable enough to be independent and autonomous. They can't survive without Federal allocation from Abuja. |
