FULL LIST: Ex-cbn Governor, Emefiele Allegedly Bought 43 Vehicles Worth ₦1.2 Bil by Antoeni(op): 2:03pm On Nov 17, 2023
The Federal Government of Nigeria accused the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, of improperly buying 43 vehicles worth N1.2 billion from 2018 to 2020 as per a report from Channels News.

He faced a reduced six-count charge, down from the initial 20 counts involving N6.5 billion.

FULL LIST: Ex-CBN governor, Emefiele allegedly bought 43 vehicles worth ₦1.2 billion
Ex-CBN governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele.
Emefiele, the sole defendant, appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The charges focused on alleged procurement fraud.

Emefiele was accused of illegally purchasing 43 vehicles between 2018 and 2020 valued at N1.2 billion. Additionally, he allegedly awarded a contract for 37 Toyota Hilux Vehicles worth N854 million.

One charge stated that Emefiele, while serving as CBN Governor, granted undue favor to Sa’adatu Ramallan Yaro, a CBN staff, by awarding a contract worth N854,700,000 to April1616 Investment Ltd., a company in which Yaro was a director.

Similar accusations were made regarding a Toyota Avalon worth N99,900,000 and a Toyota Landcruiser V8 valued at N73,800,000, both awarded to the same company.

The allegations also included awarding contracts to Yaro for two Toyota Hilux Shell Specification Vehicles costing N44,200,000 in 2020.

The case is adjourned until November 22 for a ruling on Emefiele’s bail application and November 28 for the trial’s start. In the interim, the court ordered Emefiele’s remand at the Kuje Correctional Centre.

Here’s the breakdown of the vehicles and their alleged prices mentioned in the information:

1. 37 Toyota Hilux Vehicles – Valued at ₦854,700,000.

2. One Toyota Avalon – Worth ₦99,900,000.

3. One Toyota Landcruiser V8 – Allegedly priced at ₦73,800,000

4. Two Toyota Hilux Shell Specification Vehicles – Costing ₦44,200,000.

These were the vehicles mentioned in the allegations against Mr. Godwin Emefiele, the former CBN Governor.

You and I know that this is far more of political witch hunt than justice.

Meanwhile, Emefiele is my MSCBGOAT (most stupid central bank governor of all time).

Emefiele is being persecuted not because of corruption but because he has an Igbo sounding name. If these clown are really serious, there are enough people from the last junta who should be arrested and you'll raise enough cash from them to fund your luxury yatchs and multi billion naira cars for Iyawo without taking any loan or breaking any sweat. These people are using Emefiele to entertain agbado imbeciles and not me cool

I don't think emefiele is the only criminal. We have the minister of finance under Buhari who was only coming out to speak when she had bad news about the economy. She spent money from the federal reserved without approval from the national assembly.

We have the minister of humanitarian who was feeding school children when there was a COVID-19 lockdown. She was also sharing conditional cash transfer to ghost vulnerable people.

The minister of State for labour ,keyamo, who got ₦50b to pay unemployed youths in the 774000 local government but ended up buying mansions in USA with the people's money.

Some of these criminals are appointed as ministers under Tinubu. It is only emefiele that is the scapegoat because he worked against Tinubu s plan to bribe the electorates for their votes

It’s not about the cost but about the process. There are laid down rules as captured in the Public procurement act for procuring anything in the public service. Violating any of the rule is a criminal offense that comes with 5 years in jail.
