Residents of a building in Lagos state went online to lament as they hurriedly removed their properties from their home which was set to be demolished.

The house, located on the mainland in Lagos State, is one of those the state government marked for mass demolition.

One resident paid N1.7 million just one month ago to move into the house and now has to leave before his rent expires.

Nigerians and stubbornness. I believe they most have been told long before now to move out of the properties but they ignored the notice . Government does not just demolish structures without enough notice for occupant to move out.

Secondly, I believe these structure are illegal buildings that were erected without government approval. If government gave approval for these buildings then the landlord should be duly compensated

These demolitions in Festac are being carried out by FHA not Lagos State. Those who have relevant documents and approved plans can seek redress.
