There is no respite in sight for university workers under the umbrella of Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, who are agitating for the release of their withheld salaries resulting from last year’s industrial action.https://dailypost.ng/2023/11/29/withheld-salaries-uncertainty-as-ASUU-rejects-fgs-offer/

Just like subsidy, that money is gone. If they go on another strike again, No work No pay will apply. They cannot be eating their cake and having it whereas students and parents will suffer for extra years spent in school whereas lecturers get their full pay even for the periods they decide to go on strike. They were on strike before Covid, Covid met them and then after Covid they went on another strike for 8 months. So what happens to those kids who were supposed to be progressing from one level to another. Like I always say, let everybody lose during a strike. Lecturers lose their salary, Students their time and government their goodwill. Before now every other person loses except ASUU because they get to collect free money Judolisco: |

- In 1984, Buhari stopped the feeding culture in universities. He tagged it corrupt, just like he did with anything he intends to destroy. He came back and finally finished the university system. Buhari doesn't have value for education because he doesn't know what it entails. No one values what they don't understand. - B4 the elections Tinubu vehemently pushed Buhari to pay. Fronted Gbajabiamila & the likes of Babajide Otitoji of TVC escalated & saw reasons. Tinubu is now President, story don change. Politicians will always be themselves. - Universities run as sessions. As of today, no academic session was missed and all pending work was done, results submitted, students mobilized and some have done their NYSC. Why is the FG still shouting "No work, no pay" for the work that has already been done? - Las, las, many don finally japa. Many more are coming. Just like our Doctors, their children and grandchildren will meet some of the Lecturers here. They will learn the hard way. |

Another strike is about to start. As for the courts, nobody takes them seriously anymore. In fact, there is nothing like court in Nigeria. NLC went on strike even though there was a court order restraining NLC from doing so. ![]() Atimes, you need to act like some crazy dude before you could get what you wanted from the crazy Federal Govt Of Nigeria. If you keep begging them to address your issues you would be taken for a ride in most cases. |

FG abeg pity and forgive them already and give them their earned salaries. I'm sure by now they've already seen the handwriting on the wall 🧱 and no longer business as usual in case they want to embark on a needless holiday again in the name of strikes. FG pay them already. |

I don talk say I no go comment on Nairaland till 2024 but I just can't overlook this nonsense news. FG must not pay ASUU one kobo. No work, no pay policy must be implemented to the letter. You wasted the lives of students for almost a year and you still want to be paid in full. Every little thing, they will declare strike. Then, travel out on vacation or go and lecture in private universities (side hustle) until when they call off their strike. This nonsense has to stop |

ecolime: .. Boss abeg make FG forgive them and use this one pull their ears👂 as warning. I'm sure them self go fear to go further strikes after the previous one. |

If they try to go to another strike, they'll suffer from no work no pay again. FG is not a charity organization. |

ASUU are just after their own "stomach"....and interest.Anyone sending their wards to a public university does that at their own risk. The conditions of most of this institutions are so pathetic. |

ecolime:- One of the major causes of the strike was 13 years of stagnant salary. How will you sincerely feel if you're the one? - Another was FG's policy to withdraw funding for universities. That is partially happening now. If you have a child or sibling in Federal universities, go and ask them what's up. - Thousands of students have abandoned the university education & returned to the streets. Who's children do u think we're talking about? Definitely not those of the politicians. - The entire work missed during the strike was done. Students have been mobilized & gone for NYSC. Others are in new classes. So which work are you guys saying is undone? - ASUU has never been the problem. The need to boost the business of privately owned universities, while aggrandizing more lootable resources is the grand target. And who owns these universities? Yes, them. - While you have reasons to hate on ASUU, remember that the common enemy is the political class. They are bent on widening the gap on all fronts (Educationally, Financially, Socially, etc) while the victims blame other victims as is the case rn. That can only help one set of people. The politicians. |
