That property is too expensive for regular businesses to acquire them. Even if companies will own properties there, they wil be companies worth billions of naira. Nigerian churches are some of the richest organisations in this country and they don't even pay taxes, meaning they have a lot of money stashed away somewhere.

The developers of Eko Atlantic are only interested in selling to those who can afford it as they don't intend to do giveaway after investing a lot of money, time and efforts in that project. BTW, the Chagoury family has gotten so much from this country and sometimes I wonder what they have given back to the system because they tend to do more philanthropic work elsewhere in the world after conniving with Abacha to steal so much from Nigeria.

The developers are interested in money. Buyers buy the buildings on paper as planned and then pay for the construction

I know that the so-called church didn't buy the land. One corrupt bastard most likely 'gifted' the property to the church as some form of tithe or spiritual bribe to atone for sins or whatever.
