you've bundle Soo many things into one comment such that I get the feeling , you're absolutely confused.

What has unicorns got to do with individual consumer spending at 10 dollars, which I posted?
Unicorns (Companies worth over 1Bn dollars).

My point is that it is impossible to have such a much smaller private sector as we see in Ghana as compared to Nigeria and then see more people spend 10 dollars there than Nigeria.

This is because the bigger the formal private sector, the more they employ consumers who can at least spend over 10 dollars daily.

Even aside that, looking at it from every other angle, it is just impossible to have Ghana as 2nd on that list.

The point still stands. You cannot find any report directly from the World Bank that states this.

waa see...now unicorns are synonymous to the size of the private sector?
Where does none unicorns fall?

You have forgotten how much of a big money 10 dollars is in Nigeria such that 99% of Nigerians do not even make that in a day to be able to spend in one day.
We are talking about 13,000 Naira here 🤣😂

You're dragging a fact from research done by so many credible institutions and come out with similar results.

Just provide the World Bank report. I have searched and the last report I saw from World Bank on Nigeria says 40% are poor and 31.9% are lower middle income class leaving 29% at upper middle income class and above and this was a 2020 report.

Data on those who are upper middle class is marked on that report as not available but if approximately 70% is below lower middle income class (5.5 dollars per day), then approximately 30% or 60 million Nigerians live above 5.5 dollars per day which is double the population of Ghana already. From this proportion and incomplete data, it's already skewed against Ghana.

It's just common logic and this is why you and I can't find any World Bank report on this.

There is no data to show that 99% of Nigerians do not make or spend 10 dollars in a day.😄

Nigerians and Kenyans together with SA spend more money on things like KFC, Netflix, and Spotify than any other Subsaharan African nation. How then is it possible that 99% Nigerians cannot spend 10 dollars a day ?😄😂

Give me just one screenshot or link of this World Bank report and I would concede this argument.

99% of Nigerians are not in the 10 dollars spending range.

One from statista and another from the world Bank...if you want the actual site of the data...just search this platform or the previous one and you'll get it because I've posted it several times here.

Buying 7 dollars and 11 dollars Spotify and Netflix monthly subscription does not compare to spending 10 dollars a day.
How many Nigerians even go to KFC in a day to spend 3 dollars and 5 dollars on their food? 😂🤣 For most Nigerians it is like saving up Money to one day have a feast 😂🤣
I'm just being real bro..

Just look above , there are various screenshots with similar information.

Basically, all of Southern Africa are faring better off because they have a good proportion of their citizens who can basically spend 10 dollars a day without reaching empty pocket hence they are considered the best consumer markets on the continent.

Nigeria is considered base on economics of scale

Why would Nigeria spending be estimated based on dollar when Nigerians actually spend naira.

Almost all Nigerian foods are locally produced except when buying imported products for luxury.

I understand but because we are comparing with other countries, we argue based on dollars which of course doesn't do justice to the argument based on purchasing power parity.

The real boss here is South Africa.

Let's keep Nigeria 2022 population at 200 million, 273 billion divisible by 200 million is 1,365 dollars.
Divide this by 365 days and you have the average consumer spending at 3.7 dollars per pay.

Ghana 55 billion divide by 30 million and you have 1,833, further divide by 365 days and you have 5 dollars average consumer spending per day.

South Africa 256 billion divided by 60 million people gets you 4,266 dollars, further divide by 365 days and you get average consumer spending at 11.6 dollars a day.

Kenya 80 billion by 54 million people get you 1,481 dollars, further divide by 365 days and you have average consumer spending at 4 dollars per day.

South Africa comes first
Ghana second
Kenya third
Nigeria 4th

You said 99% of Nigerians which is an exaggeration because Nigerian foods are locally produce only rise in petrol prices affect transportation costs from farms. Most of these poor Nigerians pay little money for food items because they have their farms.
The middle class Nigerians definitely spend up 10000 dollar at KFC but they spend nothing close to it when they eat at home.

What did the statistics say they consumed are they luxury or necessity items ? This because the fact that I don't spend my money on things I think I can source locally does not make me a poor man.

what did you understand by number of people who can spend 10 dollars a day?

It surely wasn't about the total consumer spending of a nation.

You were the one who brought the yearly consumer spending of Nigeria to claim how Nigeria is the boss.

Per Capita gives you the spending depth of each society.

consumer spending is usually calculated on consumables necessarily in the areas of necessity

Investopedia describes consumer spending as the money spent on final goods and services by individuals and households for personal use and enjoyment In an economy.
Consumers decide whether to spend their money now or the future.

Consumer spending is therefore useful for companies planning their sales forecast and not an indicator of an economy. Gdp is the real indicator.
Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by Shma2022:

So Ghana has 21% and Kenya has 14%

Except we are not using 6.8 dollars but 10 dollars and at this range of consumer spending, Ghana has 5.2 million and Kenya less than 2 million. Which is still a larger percentage of Ghanaians and only about 5% of Kenyans.

This brings into perspective how poor Africa is in relation to a country like Indonesia
Lemme remind you of the trash you posted.

The population living above $10 a day in Ghana is 5.2M - Going by "then" Ghana's population of 31M, That is a whopping 17% of Ghana's population that lives above the means of $10 a day! You must be exceedingly obtuse to even come to such a conclusion, talkless of defending it. And Nigeria with 206M population only having 3.7M people living above $10 means; 1.7% is scarcely credible and unreal notwithstanding the intellectual status of the viewer!

The logic is already flawed, so bringing other nations is a nonstarter.
