Ogene001:I'm from southeast, I cannot add Oba, Abagana, akwuzu and Aguleri as part of Onitsha. You and I know they re not part of Onitsha. There's no amount of cry. The best I can do is at ogidi, it's still debatable |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by Ogene001: 8:45pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
Workch:Even Google map is clear. Onitsha urban sprawl is largest in Nigeria |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by Ogene001: 8:46pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
Workch:And you are nobody and facts don't respect your personal feelings |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by Workch(op): 8:46pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
Ogene001:That's by you, the data says otherwise. Things can't always go your way |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by Workch(op): 8:47pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
Ogene001:No, An Aguleri or Abagana person knows that he's not part of onitsha. We cannot twist facts to make you happy |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by Ogene001: 8:49pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
Workch:If things are always my way your attempt to "balance things" is nonesense. Facts are sacrosanct even if one person have his way 100% |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by Workch(op): 8:50pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
Ogene001:Oba, Abagana and Nnewi cannot be added to Onitsha. They are standalone towns. An Nnewi or Oba man is not an Onitsha person. An Awkuzu man no be onitsha man. |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by Ogene001: 8:51pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
Workch:It's obvious you are a clown. Nobody is talking about people or culture affiliations, we are talking urban metropolitan area |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by Ogene001: 8:52pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
Workch:You have mental issues. Your feelings are irrelevant. Urban sprawl does not respect your personal feelings |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by Workch(op): 8:52pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
Ogene001:You are an idiot. No one is talking about metro here. We are talking about cities. If it's about metro, I would hve added Mbaise to owerri and Epe/ikorodu/ Badagry to Lagos... You can cry all you want, I won't add Abagana, Oba and Awkuzu to Onitsha |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by Ogene001: 8:53pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
Workch:So why did you add Obosi and nkpor? Are they Onitsha people. Stop disgracing yourself |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by Workch(op): 8:55pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
Ogene001:Because there's no clear boundary. Like thick bushes or so. This also applies to Lagos, there's a clear boundary like Bushes and swamp between Main Lagos and Ikorodu, else I would hve added Ikorodu to Lagos |

Workch:Sorry to bust your bubbles and put an end to this impression you have. That said you sound needlessly rude. Google map although being a satellite imagery software isn't the satellite mapping used professionally for geographical and urban purposes. QGIS and ArcGIS is a much professional tool compared to Google Maps. I'm a qualified professional urban planner and I have worked in Ministry of Environment in Ibadan North LGA. |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by Workch(op): 9:00pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
kingreign:There no how you will map ibadan to be 3080km square. Unless you will be adding vast land full of forests. From gooel map, you will clearly see thr urban areas inside of Ibadan and then calculate the area |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by Abagworo(m): 9:01pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
mrvitalis:Almost everywhere from Onitsha to Owerri, Orlu, Nnewi and Awka is built up so it will be difficult for him to draw a line. Imo and Anambra are basically built up like Lagos.
|
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by kingreign(m): 9:02pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
Workch:What's your definition of the following terms: 1. Urban area 2. Built up area? Also, are you erroneously mixing up Oyo state Ibadan? |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by Workch(op): 9:06pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
kingreign:Yes, cluster of buld up area that is not separated by large natural boundary like forest, large river or big lake. Ibadan city urban cannot reach 3080km square going by that definition. It's clear to see on tha map. Don't argue |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by MadamExcellency: 9:08pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
Workch:Google is not living in the Southeast and only gives you what Gabbage it was fed. It was only Southeast tribal politics that stopped the creation of Aba State when East Central State was divided by Gen Gowon in 1976 alongside old Imo (Imo, Abia and Ebonyi) and Anambra States (Enugu and new Anambra). Aba is like Lagos State where every Yoruba thinks he/she has a stake hence it is a melting pot of Igbo tribes and clans. At present, Aba Urban comprises 5 LGAs and at large is a total of 9 LGAs. (Old Aba District under the British colonial rule). I remember in 1979 when we schooled in Aba what the city represents even after the war. |

kingreign:If you like be minister of housing, Ibadan urban from the map is not up to 3080km. Maybe, combining the forests in other parts of the smaller local government can mke it that size. Let's do argue thr obvious. If we are going by your definitions, do you think thay Kano city will not be larger, you want us to add forests and deserts? Going by your difinition, Onitsha will be way larger than Ibadan. Because I will have to include Ekwulobia to Onitsha |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by kingreign(m): 9:09pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
Workch:Going by your definition, lake Ontario stops Ontario from being an urban area, the Thames River stops London from being an Urban area. The Hudson River stops New York from being an Urban area. Interestingly, you're very wrong! No need arguing over what's completely wrong. |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by Workch(op): 9:10pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
MadamExcellency:Actually Google lives everywhere. It's a satellite. Go read up on satellites and then come back when you grasp the basics |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by kingreign(m): 9:11pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
Workch:You know nothing about Urban Planning, Land Survey, Environmental Management so no need arguing blindly with you. Arguing with you is like a cobbler arguing with a Medical doctor about how to perform a Biopsy procedure |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by Workch(op): 9:12pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
kingreign:if I add thr forests in Ibadan, are you going to be happy? |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by Workch(op): 9:14pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
kingreign:Coming from an African expert who does not understand how basic maps like Google works 😁 The only person who works in ministry of works and still don't understand basics of maps 😁 |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by Antivirus92(m): 9:14pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
God1000:Ibadan is not a city. Still gat a long way to go to achieve that. |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by kingreign(m): 9:15pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
Workch:Built up areas are different by definition from Urban areas. An Urban area may be so called due to administrative, spatial, physical (infrastructural), population or economic reasons. A built up area is so called because of the level physical of development (physical ans infrastructural). Know this and know peace. |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by kingreign(m): 9:16pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
Antivirus92:It is a city. Oyo is a town, Ogbomosho is a town. |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by MadamExcellency: 9:17pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
Workch:Did the satellite designate boundaries and expansions? This is why most of you fail practical exams and why Indians and Lebanese are imported to the country to take up jobs that Nigerians fail to learn how they are done. It is the same Google that thinks Aba Metropolis is only Aba North and Aba South alone |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by Abagworo(m): 9:18pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
Workch:Aba is larger than the area you mapped out because you excluded the less densely populated areas even though they have population centers not linked directly like Obingwa and parts of Isialangwa like Abala, Mgboko and Omoba. Even on the west the urban area crossed deep into Omuma LGA in Rivers State. Why Owerri is difficult to determine is because most non-Owerri towns in Imo State are even more populated than Owerri and it continues till you get to Awka and Onitsha. If considered one city it will be the largest city in Nigeria by far |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by kingreign(m): 9:18pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
Workch:Lol, unfortunately, you're the one who's very wrong and you're ignorant about it. I've been using Satellite imageries to map out areas of study or interest for over a decade professionally. That should tell you something. |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by Workch(op): 9:18pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
kingreign:From the map, if you actually knew how to read maps, the whole of Ibadan urban area were marked, it's still not up to 1000km square. You are becoming laughable. Ibadan Urban is less than 800km square. Go bck to geography class and get basics on map reading abd the definition of urban settlement. You illiterate. And urban setting is usually a built up area. It's basic |
| Re: PICTURES: Actual Urban Landmass Of Some Cities In Nigeria by Antivirus92(m): 9:18pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
kingreign:Ibadan is not a city. Doesn't have what it takes to be a city |
