The same fashion is happening in the GRAs in Kaduna. Almost all the roads are being gated now. |

naptu2: There should be NO gate at all. If you are so concerned fortify your existing prison call house to the level of those global renowned isolated prison or under rock dungeons. Just leave the roads alone na one plot you buy please don't turn the residents into inmates. If God is closing road what will happen? 6 Likes 1 Share |

naptu2:Taking the gates away is thievry on its own, dismantle the thing and leave it by the side so that the residents can do the needful |

Advancedman:This is not realistic in every where. The road in front of my house is meant to be private as we did it up ourselves and put a gate. Now most of the roads in lekki are private as there was no plan in them areas B4 development came., however I think the broke the law when they failed to man the gate. There should be a visible body there to open the gate.I shall agree with you on that one plus the gate serves as a big deterrents to kidnappers and vehicle driving criminals. 3 Likes |

joseph1832: Bruh you have no idea. I can remember going to one part of mainland, there was this particular street that was in between two streets. It was perpendicular to the other two streets forming H. The residents of the street in their wisdom decided to erect a gate on one side and permanently lock it So if you follow google map, it would lead you to a locked gate, you then have to follow the street down a longer way before you can see a turning to lead you into the street in question. Very nonsense something. Biko if you don’t feel safe on your street, move somewhere else. Stop stressing commuters. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

There are no good roads on the mainland, and the terrain is not like the Island axis. Therefore, more roads should be created on the mainland, where do you want to street gates on the mainland that is permanently locked? they don't need government to bulldoze them away, Island that everybody is doing big man. Abeg jaare. lol! joseph1832: |

raskymonojendor: it's not for segregation but for security reasons. I only agree with the lagos state government that these gates should he open for u at required time bt u see some closing their street gates as early as 10pm inconveniencing the public. |

erico2k2: There's nothing like private road in lekki esp phase 1. The whole place was developed by LASG. You can't lay claim on your plot and still claim the road that traverses the whole area.. That you did a road does not make it private, it is the property of LASG. 4 Likes |

How can you go and put a gate on the road we have be using before you were born, a normal Street, you put gate at beginning and end of the street and call it Estate , that is what is increasing traffic in Lagos, because those small roads has been blocked by VGC wannabes, who keep putting gates on our short cuts roads 2 Likes 1 Share |

Good riddiance.... LIVE an organized livelihood you preach, and don't prioritize your desired safety and good life at the detriments of others around you. We all deserve equal shots at the public facilities in whatever neighborhood, be it yours or mine. |

erico2k2: Lekki Phase 1 was developed by the Lagos State Government (New Towns Development Authority). It was planned by the government. It doesn't matter if you helped them to build the road, it is owned by the government. Unless the road is within a private estate, it is a public road. All those gates that were removed are on public roads. Anything else is illegal and will be a distortion of the masterplan. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Aren't those gates and barriers installed because of the insecurity in lagos state? Is the lagos state here by assuring all in these estates sustainable security? |

Kudos to Lagos government for pulling down the gates of jericho lekki phase 1,impunity left right & centre. Anyone that wants privacy should go to VGC,BANANA ISLAND,EKO ATLANTIC,NICON TOWN,IKOTA HOUSING ESTATE,MAKOKO ORI OMI etc Just the other day I dey drive inside lekki phase 1 & I wan navigate my way pass go the next road only for me to see gate left right & centre something wey no dey before. This should serve as deterant to lekki phase 1 residents and every other locations across board. Davido left lekki phase 1 to banana island due to privacy so other should emulate him rather than inconveniencing people because of 1 plot of land. |
